I am the culprit that has caused this debate to start, I was having a bit of trouble logging on to this site and finally did so this morning, My good friend Bill Van in Canada offered to help start the post until I got sorted, thanks Bill.

Now the problem ---- My HO scale Climax has had no more than 40 minutes running when the first of many problems began, namely, the first bevel gear that drives the rear axle on the front truck split, the next was the boss on the front universal that fits the main drive shaft, this split also, if this boss had have been as long as the rear boss on the rear universal, I may have been able to make and fit a ring around the boss to hold this together, not to be,
I was able to get a replacement gearbox drive shaft from Bachmann and I bought some ubeaut super glue from Micro Mark and glued the front bevel gear to the shaft as a tempory fix, later, I ordered the complete driveline plus the front and rear trucks hoping by now, the problems would have been fixed, alas, sometime later after sending an email to Bridget, she informed me there are no more parts for the Climax.

This then is my beef, why manufacture a finely finished loco like the Climax and not have a parts supply to back this loco up.

What now Mr. Bachmann??.

To return this loco from Nth. Qld. Australia is not an option because of freight costs.

I should have checked the parts sheet before I put foot in mouth, I see the gears are individually numbered.

Can't understand why you are having trouble getting any replies, are you using this address?,

  "cs@bachmanntrains.com " and address to "Bridget" in parts and see what happens.

There is a supplier down south (I'm from Nth.Qld.) I am not sure of the name, could be Zimmo's or Zimmler, if you like I can check with one of my group here and let you know.

Offhand if you have a parts breakdown sheet you may find this gear is part of a grouping and that is what you will need to order, I also have a 2-10-2 Southern and as yet have had no problems.

My parts sheet is locked away in a container, I will endeavour to have a look at the sheet today and get back to you.

I have found Bridget in parts to be very helpful when ordering parts for my shay and climax and which reminds me, I have to replace a drive shaft on my climax soon.

Yeh!!, the second lot of scans that come through, were a lot easier to read, did you happen to browse the docs. before you emailed them, you would have noticed that part of the doc. referred to light bulb and then bulbs, I wonder if that was referring to onion/tulip or even lily bulbs, I guess I will have to read that doco a few more times and make sure I understand it, the Walthers instruction sheet is no different with their references to bulbs.

Sorry mate, for using you in this way, just had to have a last shot, maybe.

I have tried to attach the Walthers instruction sheet to this post, I don't think this was successful which will be disappointing.

Well blokes, I appreciate your concerns for me not using the correct term and calling a"lamp' a "bulb", In my country, my term is correct, a question for you Hunt, what do you call the main light on the front of a motor vehicle?, we class them as "headlamps" and on the rear of a vehicle, these are called "rear combination lamps" and both these items have "bulbs fitted to them.

You are right and so am I.

G'day All,

Just wondering if some of you blokes would know the voltage of the bulbs used in the Proto 2000 "PA" diesel, the instructions tell me to replace the bulbs with 12 volt bulbs when changing to DCC.

I intend to install a couple of resistors in line for the head light and Mars light, and to do this I need the bulb voltage, so if some one can help.

A couple of years ago I fitted a Soundtrax diesel sound decoder into a Kato Dash 9, and attached the decoder to the underside of the shell roof and after running for awhile I also noticed the shell becoming very hot but not enough to soften this, I relocated the decoder to the chassis and I can still feel the heat coming through the shell but not as much, this loco is still running with this decoder in place and with no hassles.

I have also noticed, some defcoders run hot and others run slightly warm.

Hasn't the 4-8-2 mountain got a 8 pin plug, the spectrums that I have fitted decoders to have this plug, would yours have the 9 pin plug?.
