HO / PCC Sparking Pole Shell Swap
April 19, 2024, 09:10:02 PM
I'm doing a shell swap and was wondering about the wiring to the sparking pole. Are there any polarity issues, as it does appear one wire is longer than the other. Has anyone done this before? I ended up with a cheap duplicate car and purchased a replacement shell and pole, so I'm just changing out to a different city. My apologies if this is posted elsewhere. TIA

I'm hoping adding to this thread is ok. I have one of these in Jersey Central which leans a little and rocks when I apply the throttle. I've heard this can be fixed by replacing the worm gear covers. Are the current worm gear covers available on the website a correct fix?

HO / Re: ACS-64 Ditch Lightsk

Sorry, been a busy week to reply sooner. Thanks for everyone's feedback. In the video, the ditch lights flash with the horn, even though the loco is running with them off (yes, I live off the NJCL & NEC, where I usually see them on.)  I can't get them to just flash with the horn; I have to first turn them on and then they'll flash with the horn. It's all or nothing and that's what seems strange. It could definitely be me, as I'm new with DCC.  My step-son bought a NCE Power Cab and now after saying I wasn't going to convert, here I go. Then again, he is the person who got me back into the hobby years ago when he was still a boy.

Actually, I already got my answer from TCS, as someone was on a FB group I belonged to. I just had to use function 3 while in light mode to turn them on. Still seems kinda silly that they don't stay on by default.

HO / ACS-64 Ditch Lights
August 16, 2019, 06:48:06 PM
I just purchased the Siemens Amtrak ACS-64. For the life of me, I cannot get the ditch lights to work. Has anyone else had this problem?  I have not been able to find anything useful on the web or YouTube.

HO / Re: e/Z Track to standard track

I tried this, as I was originally going to use EZ-Track with Atlas code 100 track to use my turnouts. I used a section of N scale cork roadbed on top of HO scale roadbed (I use North West) and then used a shirt cardboard shim under the EZ-Track section and was able to run over it with coupled cars with no problems. I only nixed the idea, as I decided I wanted a lower profile than EZ-Track provides (I wish the design was like Atlas True-Track, but when my step-son discovered model trains as a kid, I know that the EZ-track was a blessing).
