I just have one question.  Is it possible to hook up detection units to the signals and have the signals change accordingly?  I believe it is possible, but just want to make sure.

     There may be screws in the chassis just off the side of the fuel tank.  Check outside the four corners of the fuel tank and screws should be there.

     Actually, Spencer has the same type of wheel arrangement as Gordon, but does that mean he is bigger and faster?  He is streamlined, but that makes only slight changes in speed.

      A few added road names would be nice, too, especially the Nickel Plate Road.

     Anyone in his right mind would have to say that the best railroad was the Nickel Plate Road, followed by the N&W (regardless of the merge), but by NO means the NS.

     The "F" is used to denote that we are referring to functions, as opposed to address numbers.
F-13  would be function 13.

     It would be possible, but the couplers will have to be metal.  All the couplers' magnetic poles will need to be the same facing the track.  Since like charges repel, you will need the same magnetic pole for the track facing up toward the magnetic couplers.  However, it is too complicating for manufacturers to make their products compatible with all the other manufacturers.

     I have a Bachmann Berk and I love it.  I had it pulling about fifteen cars without any problem.  Most of them were 50', some were 40', and some were 56'.  I would like to get a Proto version of it just to compare the quality myself, and to have a different number .  The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not a Spectrum.  I only have two steam locos, one Spectrum 2-8-0, and one standard Berk, but I can tell they are quite different just by looking at them.  Now that I have more freight cars, I haven't compaired them yet.  But I think I can be safe to say that my Spectrum 2-8-0 could outpull the Berk.

Not bad, but the coal seems a bit "flat."

P.S. I never saw any of your hopper cars, and putting coal into cars wasn't your idea, so...

     The same procedure should also work for gravel and sand loads.  I've had the same idea for a long time, but since I don't have a layout, I think it's a waste of time right now.

That is not what the history page of the nkphts says.  Anyways, I read a book once that one chapter was all about Vanderbuilt.  It even said that his rail service reached St. Louis by purchasing the Nickel Plate.  It may have been Cornelius' son that actually bought it, it has been a while since I read that book.  With it's financial management, we might as well say that their rails were made of nickel.
