HO / Re: Slight derailment issues

Roger,

Thanks for you quick response.  I will check my layout; there are some points where it is not sitting flat on the board.

HO / Re: Slight derailment issues

I am having the exact same problem as 8stargazer with the same loco.  I also bought the Dyanamis set with the 2-8-0 C&O loco.  It is driving me crazy.  I also purchased a diesel that runs fine.  The wheels have been checked with a gauge, but my model train store guy(I'm lucky enough to have a great store nearby) thought the pilot wheels where not putting enough pressure.  He tried to fix it and it worked for a while, but it must have loosened up again.

I am also new to model railroading.  Is it expected that these issues should occur on a brand new locomotive?  This is on top of the flourescent light issue I have and the fact that the signal cuts out from time to time (I have a small 4x6 layout so I can't be too far away).

I'm using easy track to keep everything Bachmann consistent.

General Discussion / Re: Dynamis not responding?

If you have fluorescent lighting try using incandescent lights.  Dynamis does not always work when there is fluorescent lighting.

That's my problem.  I replaced some of the bulbs in my den with incandescent and only have those lights on when I run the trains.

General Discussion / Re: 15" curves

Thanks for your replies.

I am officially scrapping the 15" curve idea.  I definitely plan on adding a diesel at some point and don't want such limitations.

Thanks again.

General Discussion / 15" curves
March 31, 2014, 10:03:01 AM
I have a small setup and was wondering if I could get some more track in play if I used 15 inch curves is a few spots.

I would appreciate any opinions on this.  I am running a 2-8-0 engine (from the Dynamis set).

Thanks

I guess the question is whether I should feel compelled to go through the work arounds on a new item?  Wouldn't this be considered a defect? Old software developers would say "it's not a bug; it's a feature".

I have registered this issue with the Bachmann service folks, but have not heard back yet.

My Dynamis control center won't work if I have florescent lighting on in the room.  I tried LED lights but that did not work either.  Incandescent bulbs are being phased out.  This is becoming a real issue.

General Discussion / Re: My turnout won't work

Perhaps "rough" is a poor way of describing it.  Each rail is smooth, but the moving short segment is a little lower than the fixed section.  I will try to take some pictures over the weekend.  Right now I have dig myself out the snow (I'm in Rockland County, NY) and spend some time on my day job :)

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: My turnout won't work

All cars derail at the rough spot.  I also reversed the loco and tender so that it would go forward.  It derailed at the same point; the rough spot is where the short rail, that moves when you throw the switch, meets the fixed segment of rail on the turnout.  If you run your finger over the area it is catches on the the fixed segment which is slightly higher than the shorter moving piece.

I hope I have explained it adequately; I'm still learning the lingo :)

The rolling stock is all new Bachmann Silver series.

Thanks

General Discussion / My turnout won't work
February 12, 2014, 07:12:24 PM
I have the Dynamis starter set and am having a problem with the turnout. When I try to back the train to the siding it derails every time. The rail that comes into play when you switch the turnout away from the main track is very rough where the two rails in the frog meet.

Is this fixable by a beginner or do I need to return the turnout?

Thanks

OK...so I checked out the power transformer cord and was able to get a power reading.  Then when I connected it again to the command station it worked!  Maybe the probe from the multimeter cleared out some dust or debris.

Now I just have to deal with a fluorescent light issue (could be a real problem as incandescent bulbs are being phased out) and figure out why the train moved three inches and then stopped!

Thanks for the information.

I have the "ESU Switching Power Supply" I tried reversing the plug.  Still no power.

I set up my new Dynamis system and the command center does not seem to be getting any power.  I plug it in, but none of the LED's are lit.

Is there some trick to this or do I have to send it back to Bachmann?

Thanks
