On30 / Climax with buzzing sound
April 16, 2020, 01:08:23 AM
I have a Climax that I cannot get to operate.  When I power it up I only get a buzzing sound and both lights are on all the time.  No movement, whistle bell etc.  I have tried resetting CV8 without any affect at all.  Any help would be appreciated!

On30 / Shay Tender Screws
March 28, 2018, 10:02:26 PM
I need screws that are the same thread configuration as the screws holding the Shay tender to the chassis but which are 1/4" longer than the screws provided.  Does anyone know the exact thread/screw size for these screws?  They are part number 10213.

Thanks!

On30 / 2-6-0 Quartering problem?
July 16, 2016, 08:23:38 PM
I have a Bachmann 2-6-0 that I have worked on but it seems to have  a significant wobble in the drive train.  I can't post a video here, but I posted on a Facebook site so show the problem.  I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on what I can do to try to remedy this or if anyone has suggestions on what the problem is and how to resolve it.  Is this a quartering problem on one of the drivers?

Video is located at:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1408058259500198/      Search for my name, Kevin Spady.

Thanks for any help!

For anyone interested, I opened up my Climax to see how it is wired and discovered that it utilizes the same electronics as the Shay.  The Climax has the backup light soldered to the C1/C2 contacts on the board, and I will be wiring my Shay to the same contacts using a Bachmann light that came with the Shay.

I have searched extensively for any information that would help me add a backup light to the Bachman On30 two truck shay, without any success.  The locomotive came with factory installed DCC and sound.  Several questions:

1.    Has anyone done this?

2.    Is it possible to add a light using the existing board?

3.    Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the Bachmann board?

4.    Anyone know what the unused C2 solder pads on the main board are for?  They do not appear to be used.

Sorry for so many questions, but seeking some guidance here.

Thanks

On30 / 2-4-4-2 light question
January 22, 2013, 02:10:52 AM
Hi all

I have a new 2-4-4-2 with sound that is a great little locomotive.  My only "complaint" about it is that the headlight and backup light both cooperate simultaneously and are overly bright.  Does anyone know a CV setting that will allow the two lights to operate indepenently and with directional operation?  (ie forward light on when moving forward, etc.)  Is it possible to change the intensity of the lights, or would that require wiring in a resistor into each lighting circuit?

Thanks all!

On30 / Re: Sound install in On30 2-6-6-2 articulated
January 08, 2013, 12:56:25 AM
Thanks fm.  That is basically the info I was looking for.  I am now contemplating whether to do an "easy" install as you describe, or pull the entire assembly to get a mega bass speaker in the tender.  I want to try the high bass speaker, but it is 3x the height of the normal speaker, which means I will need to pull the bachmann board and replace it with the Tsunami.  ah... decisions, decisions.

Thanks all for your input.

I guess my original question still stands:  Can I simply swap out the Bachmann decoder for a Tsunami TSU-1000 decoder with sound in the 8-pin connector on the existing board, and connect up a speaker in the provided housing?

On30 / Another 2-6-6-2 question

Another question related to 2-6-6-2 sound intallation.  Can the plugin sound decoder for the new 2-4-4-2 be used in the 8pin connector on the the 2-6-6-2?

On30 / Sound install in On30 2-6-6-2 articulated
January 05, 2013, 12:51:45 AM
Hi all

I received a 2-6-6-2 On30 articulated from a friend as a gift.  The locomotive has no sound, but is DCC and has a 21 pin board with an 8 pin socket connecting the Bachmann decoder to the board.  I would like to put sound in the locomotive.  I know I will have to install a speaker in the speaker housing, but is putting sound onboard as easy as swapping something like a Tsunami TSU-1000 for the factory decoder in the existing 8 pin connector on the PC board?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.  I will try to test run in DC mode to see if it is fully funtional.  anyone know if Bachmann sells a decoder for the Climax separately?

On30 / Climax Problems
January 10, 2012, 11:40:13 PM
I just bought a DCC ready Climax NIB, but an older model.  When I attempt to run it on my track it sits and "buzzes" with both headlights on.  It has no decoder.  Do I need to run it in DC mode in order to get it to work?

General Discussion / Parts Availability
November 07, 2011, 12:01:03 PM
Mr. Bach-Man

I have 2 Bachman Climaxes and two Shays.  I am interested in obtaining the parts bags for each that include smokestacks and other detail parts.  These have bee out of stock for the past few months.  Any idea when these part will be available as I am unable to complete detailing etc on these locos until I can get the parts.

Thanks!
