Thomasfan (and a few others), You don't need to post every time someone posts and/or double/triple post. It gets really annoying when this happens, plus when the same thing is said over and over by the same few people. It just gets really repetitive. It is probably the main reason the original topic had to get deleted since it was taking up so much space. Like I always say when I say this, I am not a Mod and am not trying to be one. I know a lot of people agree with me. However, I am not trying to push you guys away from this forum. Please stay and have fun. But don't clog up the forum with the same discussion or talking points again and again and again.

Hi all,

I just got a few new engines lately and one in particular is a brand new Lackawanna heritage unit. The issue I have is that when the sound is on, it sounds scratchy making me think of a blown speaker. However, When I hold the shell down, it goes away. I have tightened every screw holding the shell on and holding the speaker in place. Is there an easy fix for this instead of sending it in? I am thinking about putting foam or something inside to try and reduce the vibration. Open to other ideas.

Thanks!

Sounds like the shell is used as a baffle. Is the speaker actually in a baffle? All my diesels have a baffle for the speaker.
Usually a blown speaker would have no output. I have done audio work for years.
I tried looking up Lackawanna heritage unit in the diagrams page but no luck to see what the speaker set up is like. I used, find in the page option.
I suspect it is in the fuel tank.

Rich

The speaker is located in the fuel tank. I dont want to take it apart anymore than I already have. I might just get a new speaker and see if that fixes it or not. If not, then I might try to fill the fuel tank or move the speaker location.

I didnt install it, it was factory from Bachmann. The sound is already so quiet that I can hardly hear it over my other engines. I tried stuffing it with light foam around the fuel tank but it still does it. I might just send it back and see if Bachmann can fix it.

I will try both those suggestions. I did have it apart to replace the couplers with Kadee's and I didn't notice any wires popping out. I will check again!

Excellent news! :)

Please stop responding to old threads and/or stop saying one word or two word responses to everything. It really gets annoying.

Any one else notice the yellow stripes on the Express Coaches?? I thought I saw them in the video from the Toy Fair but thought I was just seeing things! Fingers crossed that there is the yellow stripe. If so, looks like I am getting another set of 3 coaches and 1 brake coach!

I am going to make my final list of predictions now, considering we at least know one Thomas item coming out this year.

HO Scale:
Either Stepney or no engine
Troublesome Truck #6 (If there is no new engine this year, I would like to see this truck made.)

Although, I wouldn't exactly mind to see this face:

Or if a new tooling for a truck cannot be made, I would do a tanker with one of these faces:

I also think the Flatbed should be re-released, either with the same load as before or with a new load.

Narrow Gauge:
Peter Sam
Hopefully some brake vans could be made, too, but if they aren't, I'm sure they will be announced next year.

Large Scale:
Red Coaches
OR
Henrietta and Hannah
OR
Troublesome Truck #3 and other recolors.

I had an idea to use the old hoppers from the chuggington range, repaint them and add buffers and coupling hooks. I think they would look pretty good and hopefully in scale with the Thomas stock. This is the one I am talking about.

I know its not an exact match, but I think the top half will fit on a Thomas style chassis.

As posted in the Everything Thomas Topic, they are exactly the same. They were shown in their newly designed blister packs.

So by keeping the main headlight on attached where it always is, where would I put the wires for the mars light? Would I have to run new wires to the tender? Side note, what do the 6 wires going from the tender do? Meaning each individual wire.

Ahhh, okay. Just making sure. Is there a way to make it a separate function so that I can use it as mars light function?

Okay, is this the one you are looking at?

HO / Dual headlight with single LED?
October 14, 2018, 02:41:55 PM
I was watching a video of one of the new Daylights being upgraded to sound, as he took the loco shell off to see which wire the mars light would lead to, he found just one LED lighting both regular headlight and mars light. My question however, is this the same for the berks? I wanted to get 759 with the mars light and was going to upgrade the DCC model to TCS Wow sound just like my 765. I want to have a Mars light effect.
Thanks.

I have put mine on the 4 bay covered hoppers, all box cars and gondola's with load. The only one that it does not work on that I have tried is the 100 ton hoppers. Wishing it did. The little chip hits against the bay.
