Bachmann actually did the E60 decades ago!

Maybe Bachmann will re-release an improved version. ;D

Hey Mr. Bach Man,

How about bringing the FA-2 down from HO scale? ;D

I'm still trying to figure out why this wasn't sold as a Spectrum. Its as good as anything Atlas or Micro-Trains puts out. Maybe not quite as nice as the Athearn bay window, but its literally half the price.

Not quite as good in terms of lettering, but the tooling is nearly as good. The N&W scheme has major errors and I heard some comments on the MEC color.

A tremendous value nonetheless (I have two of them!).

I added 33" wheels to mine and correct trucks to the N&W one (the trucks on the N&W one raised the cab a bit, will need to lower it):

No more "bigfoot" look! ;)

This may be of some interest - Accumate couplers swap right in. ;D

Hey Mr. Bach Man,

How about a steam era version of the WM scheme next? The owners of your beautiful WM 2-8-0's would probably be happy to have a correct caboose!

WM late steam era scheme:

from here: http://www.railroad.net/articles/railfanning/northeastcabooses/index.php

The circus ones would sell well too! 8)

Thanks for listening!

N / Bachmann's NE Caboose - A Winner!
December 26, 2011, 11:59:53 AM
The new Bachmann NE Caboose is an amazingly good model! Body mounted couplers, window glass, and good ride height!

Compares favorably to Atlas NE-6 (except Atlas got the lettering correct!)

Overall, a great model, especially for the money. The Andrews trucks (incorrect for N&W) look to be an easy swap (couplers are body mounted). The stove pipe needs "adjustment". The roofwalk is molded in, but looks nice.

A few more views from my el cheapo camera:

The WM Version:

They even tooled the floor surfaces on the end platforms (ie they aint just smooth like on the GP7).

Happy Holidays (where applicable)

N / N Scale "Northeast" Caboose - Shipping soon?

The NMRA flyer lists these as "SHIPPING NOVEMBER 2011" - are these due in soon?

Thanks!

Hopefully Bachmann destroyed the tooling on these - they were really poor models.

If Bachmann re-tooled them with scale width hoods and details on a par with recent models like the GP7 and RS3, then that would be pretty cool! 8)

It appears Bachmann is holding this secret info in the Bachmann vault! :P

I wanna see the new trucks and couplers on the covered hopper in person:

http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/v/vspfiles/photos/BAC-19189-2.jpg

The catalog says E-Z MateĀ®  Mark II magnetically operated knuckle couplers...

Will these new roller bearing trucks be offered for sale?

Thanks!

N / Re: kudos to Bachmann for the new Covered hopper

Wait, found this over on the Railwire from Chris vanderHeide:

They're National Steel Car prototypes (so Canadian-built), a slight variation of the classic cylindrical grain car with the additions at the tops of the ends for more
cubic capacity.
They were originally built for at least DMLX, NAHX, ATSF, TRC, CPI and have scattered around in secondary ownership. (DME ex-ATSF; CN ex-HLMX, ex-?; WC ex-NAHX/CPI; seen a few other random reporting marks that were definately originally CPI cars.)

So when were they first built?

N / kudos to Bachmann for the new Covered hopper

I was surprised to see that Bachmann is tooling up a completely new freight car in N scale: ;D

"Canadian" Covered Hopper

(Bachmann HO Model shown).

Anybody know when the real prototype for these were built and who actually rostered them?

Incidentally. the tenders were discontinued because sales did not support them. Obviously, if sales were good, they would not have been discontinued.
Have fun!
the Bach-man

That's crap news about the tenders. I bought some for some projects - lucky I did. Most are sold out at MB Kleins. I guess some stores have tons of them? ??? ??? ???

Either way, I am still buying one but I will have to buy a short tender to go with it now. I think we still have a slope back or Short USRA on the shelf at the shop. Anybody want to buy a Standard USRA tender when these come in? I am over-flowing with them.

Here is one more reason not to let the Spectrum Tenders run out of stock. I forsee a bunch of shorties being sold once these arrive.

Now there is an idea right from the marketing room's conference table.

Supply the loco with a tender that is not correct and the customers will buy the correct one separately.

Sure hope Bachmann does not think like that.

Haha! ;D

I hope not too. In my case it translates into NO SALE.

I skipped buying the Heavy USRA 4-8-2 Mountain (even though N&W was one of the two roads that received these under the USRA) for the same reason - Bachmann put the wrong tender on it. ::)

My pockets are simply not deep enough to support this kind of thing (the 4-8-2's MSRP was $250, and now you want me to buy another tender on top of this?)
