HO / Lights.

Shay lights. Now that I have my 3 truck Shay running, I see it has no lights. Is there a drawing or wirering diagram as to how to tackle this. I do see 2 screws on the bottom to probably take the shell off. However is it possible there is no power going to the lights. Do they get power from the front and rear trucks?

HO / Re: Replacement gear.

Ok. I am really proud of myself. Got the new sideframes installed. I am almost 80, failing eyesight, and bad nerves. So if I can do it, anyone can. Lol. New life in my Shay.

HO / Replacement gear.

Does anyone know, are the drve gears in a climax the same as the gears in a 3 truck Shay? I am faced with the problem replacing cracked gears in a 3 truck Shay. Nwsl may be able to help, but there seems to be more metal gears related to the climax, then the shay.

HO / DCC on DC
July 28, 2019, 07:46:49 AM
I have a 2 6 0, a 2 8 0, and a 4 6 2 newer DCC with sound operating quite nicely  on my DC analog layout. Thankyou Bachmann.
My question is. I have an older Bachmann 2 10 0 straight DC. If I change the boards, and convert it to DCC with sound, will it operate on DC the same as my other three? Or is there something mechanical about the newer ones?

Well I give up. There must be something wrong with this engine. Thought I was being smart when I bought it in Canada from a place called Hobby Wholesale. Wrong. I have asked them to replace it, but they say they dont have another one!!! I will send it back to them and hope for a refund.  I did take delivery from Bachmann of the same type engine except it is a 2 8 0. Runs like a charm.
I was trying to support a Canadian supplier but I won't do that again. $400 Canadian in jeopardy.

I need to thank Johnathan. A few things to tweak. This afternoon or tomorrow. I forgot about the wires hanging down.

HO / New 4 6 2

Just received my new Pacific 4 6 2 dcc with sound. I am running it on straight DC power. Lots of problems. Is it possible the drive wheel flanges are bigger round then an older Bachmann steamer? There are sections on my layout it looks like the engine is bumping down the track. It also looks like it may be having trouble with the flangeways in a peco medium turnout. Also are these engines power hungry?
Thanks, Frank

HO / HO scale 2 truck Climax
July 14, 2017, 04:49:20 PM
Will the HO scale 2 truck Climax product number 80602 run on a straight DC layout? I am not sure if the one I have has the DCC chip on board but it will not run.  It starts for a tiny bit and then stops.  There may be something wrong with the gears.
Thanks, Frank

I was hopping there was a magic screw I could take out to release the frame from the body to expose the motor. I could then just reverse the polarity wires on the motor.

I have a 2 truck HO scale Bachmann Climax.  It runs backwards to all my other steam engines.  Not to be confused with reverse.  It runs backwards.  Is there an easy fix for this.  BTW this engine has been a lot of trouble since I first bought it.
Thanks, Frank
