High Rich G       How does your 2-8-0 run?  Mine has about two hours on it & it runs very well though it's still a little jerky coming off the line.  Your dead on about the lack of detail.  As Jim Pasha ( I think it was him) on an earlier post said, they make great kit bashes.  Sadly Bachmann has still not come out with Ma & Pa 23-27 which would be much nicer. Still, you can't beat that price with a stick.  While not prototypical, it pulled 17 free wheeling 36 ft freight cars & 5 50 ft free rolling passenger cars (all new Roundhouse) very easily.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Paul

Hi Sheldon,   thanks for the heads up.  If I remember correctly, from the MR test , they said it was made by
Samhongsa.  I wonder why they are releasing it  by Roundhouse rather than Athearn?  The whole thing sounds strange.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Thanks, Paul

HO / Roundhouse old time 2-8-0 & OLD TIME????? Pacific?!
February 28, 2008, 04:08:38 PM
Hi everybody,  I recently purchased one of the new old time 2-8-0's based on the old MDC castings but much improved.  I'll be happy to provide my experience on that to anyone interested.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Surfing Horrizon's Roundhouse site today I found a listing for an old time 4-6-2 (whatever that means) that looks suspiously (sp) like a USRA pacific from the color representation they show.  the delivery date advertised is Oct 08.  the really odd thing in the description is this statement.  "" based on a classic "Genesis" (emphasis (sp) mine) model with modern upgrades, upgraded drive mechanism.  Since Horrizon owns both Athearn & Roundhouse, could it be that the Athearn Genesis 4-6-2 is being rereleased with upgrades?  I have no idea but there it is.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Paul

HO / Re: Code 100 vs Code 83
February 14, 2008, 01:11:00 PM
I have no gripe with code 100 track but with the small locos I have (bachmann 10 wheelers & a new Roundhouse old time consolidation) code 100 reminds me of my old O27 Lionel trainset.  If code 70 flextrack was priced any where near the cost of Atlas I'd probably use that.  I like the way EZ track couples together, & it's very sturdy. That said, the roadbed is way to high for a turn of the century RR.  As a temporary measure (till I begin my permanent pike) Atlas Tru track gets me by.  My two cents.

Yampa Bob.....I think you were the one talking about experts.  I have two definitations for expert:  #1 An expert is someone who learns more & more about less & less til he knows absolutely everthing there is to know about nothing.  #2 An ex is a has been & a spert is a drip under pressure.  lol

Bob do you live near CO 318? Thats the ownly part of the state (west of Denver) I've never been to.

I wonder if anyone has considered the possiblity that Chug might be pulling our leg?  I've run into a number of people over the years that get their greatest yuks from tall stories, teasing, and bambooziling (sp) others.  I can visualize someone sitting in front of his computer screen & roaring with laughter at some of the responses here.  ??  just my thoughts.                       Paul

HO / Re: HELLO MR BACHMANN
December 18, 2007, 06:09:45 PM
Sorry Gene. Here at work I use upper case. these old eyes read easier with caps.  I'll try not to do this in the future.  I need the little decapod tender for a nine inch turntable.  The vanderbuilt tender is as long as the standard tender which is about a half inch too long as I remember.  I didn't mean to shout.                                                                                                                                   thanks,                                                                                                                                                          Paul

WOW!!!!!!! I'm overwhelmed, Jack,   ::)  that's way to techie for me,lol .  My personal experience was a tendency to black out when standing suddenly from a sitting position. which dissipated over a period of three to four years.  That's 50 yrs ago now....... oh well.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Best wishes and a Merry Christmas to all!
