HO / Re: Bachmann DCC decoders

I have a Bachmann K-4 Dcc that doesn't start until around speed step 14. There isn't any information on the decoder only that it is a 28-step speed control. Can I improve the starting speed by adjusting CV-2?
Thanks,
MC

Ray, can I be in line behind you..

Now I see why Sid has to visit the speed shop along with the hobby shop. Must have a very understanding wife.

Great job on the layout. I wish mine was comming along that well.

Thanks guys for talking me out of buying a Shay.

It arrived today. Now all I need is a layout.

I wish two or three would show up at my place. The one I have is pretty lonely so maybe one more would be nice. I know that they should be ordered in pairs like Sheldon recommends but on a limited budget that isn't always possible.

Could we get a hint about what scale you are talking about?

General Discussion / Talk me out of buying a Shay!
August 18, 2009, 08:50:32 PM
I am starting a new layout and would like to add a Logging operation. I have been looking at buying a Shay for some time now but with all the negetive things I have read I am afraid to make the investment. I looked at one in the LHS a couple weeks ago and it seemed to run very jerkey. Is this normal or is this one of the many problems. Please help.

I was very close to buying one on these this weekend.  Looks like I made the right decision.

I have been trying to find the 'track test car' I saw a couple weeks ago on this site. I have spent the last two hours and still am not able to find it. Can some one help me. There was a web site link listed that I ever visited but didn't save. Shame on me.
Please help!

Jim,
Thanks for all the help. I changed over to 4 digits and they programmed fine in op's mode.

Gee,
Guess no one is interested in an H-8 with sound. Mine came in today, so I guess I no longer need any advice on how they run.

Jim,
I have tried everything except reprogramming CV 15 & 16. I believe I need a little more exposure to DCC before I mess up everything.
Thanks for the help. I may get around to trying it this weekend.

Does any one have the new H-8 Alleghany with DCC & Sound? If so how do you like it.

Sheldon,
Why are you so down on DCC?
