It's great that the 0-6-0's are here.  But when will the sound boards be ready?

Is there any news regarding the release of the new 0-6-0?

Sure would be nice if Bachmann released a WP&Y diesel to go with those cars.

Yes, I did look at your posted link, but my computer doesn't have sound.  If someone said the price, I couldn't hear it.

According to another forum, the 0-6-0's have been produced and packaged -- so they should be ready to sell pretty soon?

When will the new 0-6-0 w/tender be available?  Is there a price yet, and if so, what is it?

On30 / DCC 2-6-0
May 23, 2017, 05:12:39 PM
Haven't heard much about the newly released revised DCC 2-6-0.  Does anyone have one?  How does it run?  How is the sound with the sound module?

Thanks,

You could be a little more patient before complaining about not getting any answers.  This is still the same day.  I do agree, however, that board activity is considerably down compared to what it was several years ago.  When I first got started in On30, I was buying everything Bachmann released.  Now I have at least one of just about everything they produce, and don't have room for what I already have.  So purchases of existing items for me, and I'm guessing the same applies to many others, are unlikely.  New items (just not new lettering) would certainly be welcome.

In my opinion the answers are:  yes, yes, and yes.  The sound is very good in Bachmann On30 locos, especially if you are using DCC.  Smaller scale sound may not be as good due to smaller speakers.  (At least that has been my experience.)

There are other sound systems out there, but the comparison among systems is very subjective.  Even though Soundtraxx has been around for some time, to me they are still the best value.  Hopefully, if a new, much better sound system becomes available, Bachmann would consider it.

Looking forward to the new and improved 2-6-0.

Thanks, Yardmaster,

I think I understand now.  The club members will be here sometime this weekend, and we'll try to remedy the situation.

Thanks for the reply.  However, I don't understand it.  I have reset the sound board while the sound board is installed.  How would I reset the sound board if I took it out first?

2nd issue:  The lights blink once in a while, then go off, then come back on.  "Frequently asked Questions" on the Soundtraxx site says this happens when the lights and speed steps are out of sync.  But there is no suggestion on how to fix this issue.  I have the "blinking light" issue on my new 2-4-4-2 also.

Thanks,

Mr. Bachmann,

Any comment?  Should I hear definite step changes as I increase the voltage (speed) of the Whitcomb?

Thanks,

On30 / Whitcomb Sound
July 14, 2015, 07:09:22 PM
I recently purchased a Whitcomb diesel and sound module.  The diesel runs exceptionally smooth.  However, the engine sound remains the same throughout the entire speed range.  Shouldn't the sound vary with speed?  I've tried changing CV values, but didn't help.

Any suggestions?

On30 / 2-6-6-2 and 2-4-4-2 tenders
June 16, 2015, 06:20:28 PM
Are the tenders for both the 2-6-6-2 (with sound) and 2-4-4-2 (with sound) interchangeable?  It would be nice to put the short tender with the short loco together.  (I don't have the 2-4-4-2 yet, so can't try it.)

Thanks,
JRT
