General Discussion / Re: Dcc Engines Shorting Out
October 16, 2016, 03:41:57 PM
I was having similar issues with a couple of my locos. I noticed a particular loco would only stop on a turn out going a certain direction on either a facing point or trailing point. I found that one of the pickup/ contact wires on one of the trucks had come unconnected. I use dead frog turn outs and the loco would stall out on the frog on the side that the wire was disconnected.

Just something to check.

Does this mean that the walk around companion will be available again?

It a shame really, would have been a grand slam of a product as far as I am concerned.

i bought EZ command brand new sealed for $40 on eBay. I had pre ordered smart wifi interface for $68 from Omni models. So I was only going to have $108 in the system.   I was looking for iPhone control for all of the DCC sound locomotives I already own, 9 in total.

Powercab  is a nice system but I am looking for iPhone/iPad control and certainly not wired remote control that the powercab and even the walk around companion gives.

I am sorry Bluetooth EZ app doesn't cut it.

1.  I don't want generic, unsynchronized sound coming out of my phone

2. It doesn't control the locomotives I already own.

Well,
I saw the ez command wifi smart wifi interface in operation at trainfest in the fall of 2015. I have had it on Backorder since March of 2016. Was suppose to be available in August 2016, then October 2016. now it's March of 2017. It is perfect for what I  need and how it would work with what I already have.
However, I am tired of waiting. I have decided to chuck the ez command and go with something else.

General Discussion / Re: EZ Command and Dynamis

I program loco cv's with the dynamis and operate my layout with EZ command and the walk about.
I am anxiously awaiting the wifi smart interface to go wireless.

I have the wifi interface on Backorder from an Internet seller. Bac #44928.
When I ordered it they were saying fall delivery.  It has now been updated with late July delivery.

Oh by the way, it's an iPhone app at the moment. You may not find it if you have the iPad only checked.

I had found the app for the wifi smart interface at the apple App Store and had downloaded it. The app was very hard to find but I did. If you would like to download it early do a search for

Com.kader.EZCommandRSmart

There was an update on mar 15 and had what looked like to me mandarin writing. I then looked at Walther's it listed as well as other internet sites. Walthers has the $119 price tag with adv. res.

I found it at OmniModels for $79 and put it on Backorder. #44928.  So looks like the smart interface has some activity and we may see it in the near future!

General Discussion / Re: EZ COMMAND WALK AROUND PORTS
August 31, 2015, 09:58:13 AM
I was fortunate enough to score a walk around companion for my layout. It works very well and was disappointed when I found out that I could not get another one for multiple operators. I find one on eBay from time to time but it is always ridiculously priced. Surprisingly the walk around companion ports are still pricey in some places. They should be nearly free since they are obsolete with the discontinued status of the companion.
I am looking forward to the new interface to solve my multi operator problems however I will continue to look for a walk around companion or two to add to my system. Maybe with the interface, some of the companion owners will want to get rid of their units.

i have been wanting to go wireless for quite a while and have been looking at other systems.
This changes everything!
I can't wait, hope it is out soon!
Any projections when the smart interface will be available?
