On30 / Re: On30 2-4-4-2 minimum radius

I just got a 2-4-4-2 and on my layout I run mostly 0-4-2 Porters so my minimal radius is 10.5 inches.  I've run the Porters all the way down to 8 inch radius.  I have 18 and 22 inch radius curves on a couple spots on the layout.  I tried the 2-4-4-2 at slow speed through the layout, no problems on the 18 or 22 inch curves and was able to make one of the 10.5 radius curves and had trouble with the second 10.5 radius curve.  The second one was the last one put in and might not be as well laid as the first.  I'm going to redo it and see if that helps.
You may not have the same results as I did.

On30 / Re: Sound decoder for Porter 0-4-0

Already checked them out and they don't have any with sound.

Not good about the wires not being color coded.
My local hobby store has a club and they do DCC so maybe they can help if I can find a sound decoder.

Porter was a replacement for a Davenport I sent in for repairs.  Haven't found any sound equipped Porters for sale so going to have to go with another sound decoder.

Do you know if the decoder can be swapped with a different one?

Any one know of a sound decoder for the Porter as an add on?

General Discussion / Service complaint
October 31, 2015, 05:32:10 AM
I recently sent in an engine for service.  I purchased the engine on 10/8/2015 from my local hobby shop.  Did not test run the engine before buying - my mistake.  When I finally got around to trying it out on 10/10 and it didn't run very good or for very long (12 feet total).

After reading the requirements to service an engine I looked for my receipt which I couldn't find so I went back to my hobby shop with the engine and got a duplicate receipt.

Submitted a service request on 10/23 and once I had the return authorization I packed the purchase receipt under the return authorization inside the engine box and mailed the package on 10/24.

On 10/30 I received a call from the service department that the engine was not repairable and to replace it was going to cost me $55.  I stated that the purchase receipt was packed with the engine and the response was that there was no receipt.

Arguing didn't help so I paid for the replacement engine.

What do I need to do to get a refund on an engine that I have had for less than a month?

Can provide RO NO on request.
