So I am looking at buying some locomotives and the production date is around 2003 DCC when they were first released. They are new in box. My question is does it matter when the production was run, say initial 2003, and they rerun for more stock 2007 or something for example. Will the decoder still be the original one? Although it's 2019 is it a problem?

These are on sale at a great price. I think I am going with the Southern Pacific as the A.T.S.F. I want is out of stock during the sale. I was originally going to get the NW-2 No Lettering Yellow one but I like the stripes on the Alco S4 better and the locomotive better. Looked at spookshow's site and he gives them both personal Grade A's. And they also have my F7-A unit on sale too. Another added question, they have the F7-B units on sale at a great price but they won't have headlight right as they are B unit's. But they an A unit shell should fit them right? Maybe I don't care about the light Well, I do, but heck for the price, which is great.

Decision's, decision's. Let me know as soon as you can. Guessing sale ends after New Year, but have no idea! Might end while I am typing this

Yeah and I was also trying to wire for DCC and almost sure I did it wrong thus the problem. Won't be doing that again without help. Cost me a perfectly good locomotive. And it only a 2' x 4' layout and runs fine for me on just the initial hookup. What was I thinking? Getting ready to buy some new ones on sale as it is cheaper than a decoder board only. Lesson learned I think

How can I test the motor with a meter or something for continuity, or do I have to un-solder it, and if so how do I test it at that point? Just want to know if it's the motor. If it the DCC board I'll just buy a new locomotive!

In my large city there is really only one local hobby shop left. And it is in an area where rent I would think is affordable for them versus say a NEW strip mall or large mall with department stores attached. They also cater to all hobbies pretty much or they would never stay in business, RC, Plastic Models, G, HO, N, and paint supplies , glue's, you name it pretty much. Why it's a gold mine for plastic model hobbyist I would think as well as model railroad hobbyist with open boxes, loose items, as well as brand new. Do they have the inventory of a internet retailer of course not, but you can find some gem's in that place. Bought a Model Power N Scale already built and not in a box for $1.00. Of course someone getting out of the hobby sold them their stuff, but I don't care. I saved about $20.00 on the house I bought, and am very happy. That's is also what you can not do online. Buy open stuff, etc...

I made 3 video's in the store one day after asking for permission! It's crazy full! No sound in some of the video's! Or very low sound!

Much easier for a small child learning to talk to teach them the word "Choo" "Choo" over the word Train! I don't think it will ever go away. Even without Thomas the Train and such, just easier. Kinda of like "potty", over "toilet, and other words they learn as kid's! I would also think it translates in different languages but I am not sure about that. Do children in different countries call them a "Choo" "Choo" or something else?

So it appears I have no power to one of my A Unit's. And I am not sure but it seem's like it happened going over a switch. Can it reset the programming number some how? I tried the default 3 and the previous number that had worked for over a year. Also tried just the light with that F10 combination thing I have done a million times and nothing. It's looking bad and makes me sad

Is there a way to test it with a battery some how? I thought I saw some one mention one time using a 9 V but could be very wrong.

BTW, I hooked the DC Tech II unit back up after this happen ( didn't want to ruin my last F7 ), put them in the F7 DCC cases hoping they just needed a nap, and that when I get them back out and hook backup the Bachmann EZ Control System, everything will work again I think it is called Voodoo

First off I have 3/8 cork under my entire 2 x 4 layout, but since you said you are using cork roadbed it might work. I like to be able to move my track easily so I do not use glue. You have to cut them to the correct length and try them. Works perfect for me and my layout I am working on and very inexpensive.

I got them at Michaels Craft Store, and they were $1.79 I think for 150 0f them:

I use needle nose pliers to install them after I have cut them to the length I want. Might work, or might not, but really cheap to try. I am using them in Atlas code 80 track sections.

And best of all, if I change my mind, super simple to remove and change my track layout.

So it would be safe to run all 4 Bachmann F7 locomotive's on my layout and not fry anything? I would like to have 4 on my layout and would like to run all 4 of them. If that is possible?

And the Bachmann EZ DCC Command System I had was given to me by someone that upgraded and he stated it came with an HO kit and has been working fine since last Fall running 2 Bachmann F7 locomotives. Don't know if the HO is different in any way?

Just making sure they will all work and I won't burn anything up. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Is this your first DCC train set? Isn't it awesome even with the simple EZ DCC Command System, which I love the simplicity of it myself. Here is a review done in December 2016, and the spur looks big enough for at least the locomotive or a car. Is this what you got?

Your using the EZ DCC Command System NOT the Dynamis right. Actually the chances of all 4 running at one time would be rare if at all because of my layout. And you can't program the power output on the Bachmann EZ DCC Command System right?  By that I mean program the throttle for use by young humans. So if they crank it up it won't go to actual FULL power and the locomotives go flying

I don't want to over power the EZ DCC Command System, and cause it to stop working or to cause my locomotives to burn up. Either one of them the locomotives or the DCC system.

Is the 2013 I think it is, Bachmann N Scale Train F7 A Diesel Locomotive DCC Equipped locomotive being discontinued? Reason I ask is that I would like to buy a few more in the near future, sometime between now and Christmas.

Forgot to mention I have the Bachmann EZ Command System, so no CV changing will be happening. BTW, I love the simplicity of the EZ Command. And being new to DCC just this year, for all of you just getting into the hobby, if you can afford the price difference, for sure go DCC. Being able to run multiples locomotives without wiring crazy blocks and so forth is amazing.

Looks like I'll be doing a consist very soon. Been wanting to do this again for awhile, I was just afraid it would ruin the locomotives.

I have a very small layout, consisting (get it) of two 2' x 4' bases in an L shape, so the EZ Command is all I need.
