A friend of mines father pass away and he found, what appears to be a very little used Buchmann train set.  It has a N&W GP 40 Loco and a GP$) dummy loco, 6 N&W coal hoppers and The Red thing that brings up the rear.  Coupons in the box expired 3/31/1985.  Anyone have any info about this set and what it might be worth?

Thank you for the info.    On E-z mate couplers do you also do the spring and the knuckle swivel point on the coupler head?

General Discussion / Buchmann EMD GP 7
March 19, 2018, 04:16:49 PM
After I ordered my Bachmann GP7 last November afterward I read a review that said the GP 7 would only pull 7 cars at best.  That Review was BS as far as I am concerned.  My GP7 (62460) by its self on a 24 inch section of N Scale track takes 4 seconds at 30% on my dcc and figures out to 54.55 scale MPH.  With the GP7 pulling 10 cars the MPH is still above 54 MPH.  Other reviews say it will be comfortable pulling 15 to 17 cars.  I think that those reviews are correct.  Just my 2 cents worth.  I also have an Buchmann EMD S2 and can tell no difference in speed with no cars cars or 10 cars.

am using the kuncke couplers that came on the Buchmann cars, they have the little pins that hang down.  I got my locos and track in early Dec.  Went Dcc with the 4 train prodigy explorer, they do not give good instructions, but seems to work fineand my 5 cars in the last full week of Jan.  The switch engine was DOA and have not gotten it back yet.  Other than the car wobble, fixed not thanks to your suggestion, no problem with the layout.  Thanks again Don

Thanks, it was a coupler issue.  I just Back the screws off just a tad on the coupler boxes and that cleared up the problem.  Thanks for helping a 74 year old getting back in the hobby after 50+ years.

Thanks, after looking at the car some more, compared to my other 4 cars I have both sets of trucks and a lot looser than the other cars.  Will have to find a u tube to see how to fix them.

I have a 2x4 n scale layout with 11 and 9 3/4 curves.  My Bachmann 19554 coal hopper rocks bad in right hand turns only, runs smooth in left hand turns.  My other 4 cars run fine both ways.  My NMRA guage says the wheels or correct.  Any ideas?
