My hope for NMRA would be it would be enough time for Peter Sam to be in the stage where a new engine could be announced like they did with Ryan for HO. Preferably Sir Handel. I feel like five months should be enough. Although if it isn't I would settle for Smudger.

For the standard gauge line I'd expect only recolors just because of Ryan.

Sidney and the explosives van would be really cool. Maybe some of the large scale tankers in ho also.

If they wanted to keep the theme of obscure hit rolling stock going..I think Gordon's special coaches might be a possible option of a simple repaint of either Gordon's coaches or Spencer's coach

Pretty sure you can reattatch the beams, mine break off all the time when I have to put it away. But I can always reattatch them. If not maybe see if you can glue it back on?

Personally don't see the appeal of releaseing a new Spencer. They should just do what they did with Toby and update the paint color rather then release a new model
As for what I'd like to see next yea either in Feburary or July (assuming we do get announcements then), as well as some ideas for updated models and recolors
(HO)
Stepney
Sidney
Reintroduction of Salty
Explosives van
Reintroduction of the wellwagon (with machinary load)
Reintroduction of Red Express Coaches
Reintroduction of Tar Tanker
Updated Henrietta with face
Hannah

Something I don't personally see happening but would love to see is adding more non-rail characters to the range. Characters like Butch and Bulgy would fit in very well. Maybe if we were lucky they'd add on cranes like Reg and Big Mickey, although they are super unlikely and will probably never happen.

(Narrow Gauge)
Sir Handle
Brown Narrow Gauge brakevan
Green coaches

(N scale)
Toby
Henrietta (with face)
Hannah
Milk Tanker

Although I don't want to see them until we get Stepney, some other engines I would love to see in the future would be Ryan, Whiff, and Sonny. Probably alone on that last one but would love to hear everyone's thoughts

Although the NMRA was never really huge for announcements before last year, it was advertised this year would be similar to last year. That's part of the reason people are so disappointed.

Although I would have loved to see Stepney or Ryan this year, the fact is Bachmann currently has 4 models in production. It would've been nice to get another announcement to just announce the item, since we have to wait a few years for items anyway. However with the items and the items already in production, I understand why they couldn't do that.

That being said the fact Origins James was the only announcement is really disappointing. We could've gotten news about the recolored rolling stock announced last July that are still somehow not done. Feels odd that they are taking so long, considering it seemed to be implied by the twitter account Origins James was made in the span of the last few months.

A simple announcement like reintroducing highly requested items like Salty, tar wagons, well wagons, or red express coaches could've gone a long way to add more to what was revealed yesterday.

As it stands it feels like Bachmann's announcements for the anniversary were very lacking

Or you know, they're not allowed to say anything about what could be coming. Like most companies would do.
Which is true, obviously that's the likely case. But then why respond at all? Like it's not like they absolutely had to respond to the post.

So I noticed recently Bachmann has made so responses to people asking about future products on twitter. Should we take these posts at face value or no? Cause if this is true this means potentially no to a lot of future engines anywhere in the near future.

That's what I was trying to say. Rebecca is popular enough with a decent sized portion of the fandom, and is a main character she makes sense to be made. However a majority of the fandom doesn't like her. She still might sell well with like, at most half the  Bachmann fandom and some younger kids who's parents may have bought her. However this most likely wouldn't make up for the production cost. Nia would make more sense since she's smaller but she isn't as popular and would most likely sell worse. Even if Bachmann decides to bite the bullet, Stanley, Ryan, Stepney, and maybe BoCo, Sidney, and Phillip should come first. I like Rebecca as a character but there are so many better choices to come out before her that would sell better and be cheaper to produce. If we do get another tender engine though, which is unlikely, I'd much prefer Hiro.

I'd love to see the CGI Troublesome Trucks given some love, preferably replacing the current Troublesome Truck #1 and#2.

And as much as I hate to say it, I'm sure it is only a matter of time before we see Nia and Rebecca introduced into the line. Given that they have been fully integrated into the main cast it is almost odd that Bachmann has not been compelled by Mattel to produce them, and their absence from the HO line (at the least! N scale Nia and Rebecca, anyone?) is notable and will surely be addressed in the (near?) future.
1: CGI series should never replace Model Series. Replacing Troublesome Truck #1 and #2 is a good way to lose money.

2: Oh God, please don't suggest that. We know that Bachmann's more than likely aware of everyone's disdain of those characters, thus why they haven't made them.

1. The faces on 1 and 2 are based on old promo art. They are outdated and should be replaced, preferably model series but cgi series faces will do.
2. Rebecca is actually alright, and they would be good additions to the range. However they aren't cost effective choices and shouldn't be added to the range anytime soon.

Anybody know if anything was discontinued in the catalogue or not?

Mattel owns the brand, they control everything. If Bachmann was given free reign to do whatever they wanted with the rolling stock, we wouldn't be getting these lazy, mediocre/outright ugly repaints. I have no idea where you guys are getting that Mattel doesn't/can't tell Bachmann what to do with the rolling stock, but they can with the engines.  ???
Pretty sure most of the repaints where Bachmann's decisions to get the most out of the molds and not Mattel's? Why would Mattel request things like the Water tanker, the scrap wagon, the logging flatbed, etc. Just doesn't make much sense really. Obviously Mattel does have some influence, but I don't think blaming them for the repaints, or at least most of them, is the right call.

Doug confirmed with me earlier that they will be getting new Thomas announcements this year at Toy Fair and I mentioned this in another thread last night so I don't know why you guys are still talking about that rumor.
sorry I didn't see your other post. that's my bad. Thanks for clearing things up Chaz

Since we have to wait till July for the new catalog
The new catalog should still come out in February. Even if there are no new Thomas announcements, Bachmann has all of their regular lines and scales that they could announce stuff for.
Oh yeah. Sorry should've made that more clear. The catalog will still happen, just no new Thomas stuff. Granted we could still get pictures of Daisy in that but I guess we'll just have to see.

Although it's unlikely....maybe it will come out that soon. Since we have to wait till July for the new catalog and that we seemingly have more stuff coming out or at least being announced for the anniversary for July, Daisy or at least the rolling stock could be released very on this year.

I think they just added the black couplings, maybe some other minor touch ups
