Thomas & Friends / Thomas dcc upgrade help
August 21, 2023, 03:55:13 PM
Hey,
I'm wanting to upgrade my Thomas to run on my DCC layout and I was just wandering if I need to remove the 103 yellow resistor before I solder the decoder to it?  I'm using a digitrax DH126 decoder if that helps any.
Thanks

General Discussion / 2-8-0 tender shell help
April 04, 2023, 08:01:04 PM
Hi,
I was trying to remove the shell to my Bachmann Norfolk & Western 2-8-0's tender but the screw became a bit stripped I've been trying to unscrew the trucks from the tender but they won't pop off. Any suggestions? Thanks

General Discussion / 2 quick questions
June 07, 2021, 09:54:34 PM
I have two quick questions and hopefully I won't have to use this forum again for awhile.

1. I would like to use a turntable with my layout but due to limited space and my lack of talent of wiring to use the walthers brand I'm considering buying the bachmann brand since all of the track I'm using is EZ track. So my question about it is: as long as I don't turn the engine a full 180 degrees, it won't cause a short in the locomotive right?

2. I own a few of the crossovers and some of the #4 turnouts as well as a #5 turnout. From the instructions I've read some say I should power the frogs on a dcc layout but others say I shouldn't. So what's the difference and should I or should I not power said frogs?

Thanks

General Discussion / Ez truss bridge concern
April 12, 2021, 11:53:50 PM
Just a quick question about the lighted truss bridge item number 4473. Can a double stack intermodal train roll under them with no problems? Or is the clearance to short?

General Discussion / Crossover help
March 23, 2021, 09:05:21 PM
So I recently bought a right hand and left hand crossover for my layout but I'm having a slight issue with the left hand track. For some reason some of my locomotives and cars will pick at the track when going straight and will try to crossover onto the next track intitially causing a derailment and short circuit. Has anyone else had this trouble? And are than any solutions that don't involve completely replacing the track?

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: digitrax DCC help

That's what I thought those cables were for. Thanks a bunch lad  :)
I might've misread it, but do you recommend the duplex? Or does it matter just as long as it has the infrared technology? Also should I get ur90 or ur92?

General Discussion / digitrax DCC help
August 04, 2020, 08:15:46 PM
Hello,
So I'm planning on using digitrax as my dcc power supply once I get a full fledged layout running, but I need some help from some fellow digitrax users.

So I plan to use the zephyr express as the main source of power, but I also want to use a remote so that i can walk around the layout, and in case of an accident I can be right near it instead of having to get up and run to the other end said layout. Here's where I get confused, I know I'll need the UP5's to make this work, but can anyone tell me the specific way to hook it up? like is this where the loconet cables come in? or is that used for something else? I'm trying to make the cabling of my layout as simple as possible, but I'm willing to read any recommendations anyone can offer.

Thanks

HO / Re: Turntable DCC and reverse loops help
May 31, 2020, 08:49:02 PM
Ok so after looking at some ideas on the website provided by Mr. Nathan, I've come up with and idea. So I'm gonna do a balloon(ish) style reverse loop with the turntable in the middle of the loop, will my engines run properly through the loop without any interference, or is there some adjustments you guys would suggest?

HO / Turntable DCC and reverse loops help
May 30, 2020, 06:28:31 PM
Hello,
So this summer I plan to start working on a small building to eventually put a layout in. I'll be using EZ track for the most of but i'm a little confused on one part though. this would be some turntable issues, my layout is going to be DCC and I would like to know how to use an auto reverse loop (preferably the Bachmann brand if possible) so I don't cause any polarity issues. Due to limited space I'll be using an auto reverse loop for my longer locomotives. But I still would like to use the full potentials of the Bachmann turntable with my layout. if anyone knows how to work around with this, by all means please let me know, if you have any pictures or sketches please attach them also.

Thank you and happy railroading
