Large / Boxes for large scale locos

Does Bachmann make replacement boxes for large scale?  After years of use they sometimes get pretty weak even with tape on tape.

Large / classification lights on 2-8-2
July 26, 2018, 01:52:45 AM
I'm sure this is an old subject, but just in case.  I recently acquired a used 2-8-2 Mikado.  It runs like new and has new counter weights.  I also installed Phoenix sound.  But what about those red-orange classification lights?  Is there any simple fix other that just turning them off?  Any suggestions are most appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Large / Re: installing sound system

Bill,

Thanks for the info about the exploded view diagram. I'll print one up.   It will help in removing the roof.  I should have checked more carefully myself.

Large / installing sound system

I am considering installing a sound system in the Spectrum boxcar, but getting "inside" the car looks like it might be a bit challenging.  Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance.

Large / couplers
March 30, 2017, 12:03:20 AM
Just got a deal on Spectrum g scale boxcar, but no couplers.  I want body mounted.  Which ones to order?  Any special instructions about how to install.  Any advice appreciated.

Large / Carrier for C-19 and K-27
March 23, 2016, 07:23:38 PM
Since hooking up the pin connectors between loco and tender on C-19 and K-27 is not always a pleasant task, I have been thinking of "permanently" connecting them.  But then the problem arises about how to transport the engine and tender securely and then be able to roll it off and onto the track.  Has anyone ever built some kind of carrying platform?  Hope this makes sense and any help and advice is most appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Large / replacement gear(s)
December 27, 2013, 07:53:16 PM
My g scale spectrum 2-8-0 (81299 OUTSIDE FRAME) seems to have broken a gear.  Engine is free wheeling.  Which gear, or gears, do I need to order for a replacement?  Can I get a set of instructions for this job?  Thank you in advance for any help.

Large / C-19 crew

I would like to find figures of engineer and fireman for the C-19 - meaning besides the fireman and 14 year old engineer supplied with the loco.  I don't mind doing some painting and even some Xacto surgery on them.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Howard

Stan,

Thanks for the reply and the info about a Northwest Shortline replacement.  Have you ever installed one?

Try contacting Minute Man Decals, P.O. Box 1411,  Clifton, CO  81520-1411.  I picked up a couple of sets for ng equipment via ebay.  Have not istalled them yet, but the price is right.  The owner sent me a list of decals for a SASE.

Large / stripped/broken gears
May 19, 2010, 11:32:43 PM
I have two Spectrum outside frame 2-8-0s and I am very careful about how they are handled and how I run them.  Engine #1 stripped the "drive" gear.  Sent it to Bachmann and it was fixed for $50.00 plus my shipping.  Now engine #2 has same problem.  Anyone have any experience fixing this problem?  I have heard it is not an easy job, but I am not afraid to tackle it if I have a little guidance.  Any advice is most appreciated.

Large / K-27 smoke and marker lights
July 10, 2008, 01:09:27 AM
I have changed the counterweights on my new K-27 and installed a Sierra Sound unit.  Engine runs great.  But two problems frustrate me.  Can anyone advise me of a simple way to improve the smoke output for the engine.  My LGB moguls seem to put out a whole lot more.  Also, how can I easily remidy those orange marker lights.

Thanks.

Large / Re: OK Bach'man, whats next???

Regarding the discussion about  what is coming next from Bachmann:  I would say the LGB moguls look great (although not 1:20.3) and always run great.  EBT comes in strong.  BUT why do we always seem to overlook California's own narrow gauge, the Carson and Colorado/SP narrow gauge line?  You could even have steam AND diesel.  Their last three steamers were 4-6-0s, oil burners.  So, why not?

Large / Sierra Sound for K27
January 25, 2008, 07:16:58 PM
Dear Fellow K-27 Enthusiasts:
Have recently purchased my K-27 and now have a K-27 Sierra Sound kit to install.  I have installed several Sierra systems over the years in various locomotives - all with success despite my very (and I mean very) limited electronics skills.  If you have installed a Sierra system in your K-27, I would appreciate any specific advice from your experience.  Things to be sure to do, or not to do, anything I should know before getting to it, etc.

Thanks.
