For what it's worth, are you using a volt meter and a separate
amp meter on your rail road? Someone sheared this with me a
while ago,cut my trouble shooting and maint. in half.

Bill,

The engine is a 2-4-2 its road name is Pennsylvania. Its number is 3. Item number is 91114. Tried to send photos but the file sizes are to big for this forum.
Broken parts draw bar between engine and tender. Part 2 is the part that holds the rear wheels on. Can I email the pictures to you privately.

Thank You,

Will this new metal gear work as a replacement gear
on the earlier Annies?
Thanks, Lucy

Choo Choo,
If you just want to clean the top of the rails I'd use
scotch bright, the green pad you can fined in the grocery
or the big box stores. For the rest of the track I'd just
try to spray paint a section to see if that improves the look.
Just my thoughts, Lucy

Allegheny,
I had the same problems, here is what worked for me;
I changed the couplers to the hook and loop.
I went to a hairsalon supply store and bought a package of
of rubber bands, they are small but they hold the track together.
Went to a big box store and bought a tube of ox-gard and
put a dab on the track connections. Makes for good electrical
connections.
Cleaned the wheels and a little lube--problems went away.
  Hope this helps, Lucy

Bill,
Thank you. The power pack I am using is an MRC with the volt & amp meters
so I do not think I will have a dimming problem. I did not give the re chargeable batteries
a thought. Maybe I will go that route.

the sliding connections in the cars.
