Saw the new brochure on line. Nothing, I repeat nothing, in G-scale.  :(

Hopefully a 'Flying Grande' Annie! Maybe some 1:20 scale D&RGW stuff too.

Large / TV ad with Bachmann train

Friends,
Be on the lookout for the Progressive Insurance ad on TV. It has a nice industrial 2-6-0 Bachmann train running. This is NOT an endorsement for the insurance, but I do like the train! Good job Bachmann in landing the commercial.

Large / Rio Grande Repaint Request
May 23, 2017, 09:19:43 PM
Mr. Bach Man,
I would like to request that Bachmann release some new paint schemes on the 'Annie' for late 2017 or early 2018 (announced at the NMRA show this summer)/ D&RGW paint schemes just like the three available on the C-19 (Flying Grande, Moffit Tunnel heralds and Bumble-Bee). These would be popular with the 1:22 and 1:20 scale folks as the locos are close in size to the C-19. The Flying Grande has never been released on the 'Annie', nor the Moffit Tunnel. I have asked before, but still hopeful!

I agree with Loco Bill, that Stan does wonderful work and have used him for decals. I have also used G-Scale Graphics for dry transfers. He does excellent dry transfers. It is just which one you want to use. Both are garden railroaders.

Large / Re: For those that live in the mountains
February 11, 2017, 08:28:24 AM
Mickey,
I live in the North Georgia mountains. I have had layout (about 250 ft) down since 1992. Deer will eat plants, unless protected by 'deer away' products. Occasional holes dug by various critters need to be filled in (and sometimes they did in ballast to, and track will need some leveling and straightening-mine just free floats in ballast). We had bad drought this past fall, and for the first time since installing the layout, racoons dug up rocks, ballast, and rearranged some track! Called local coon hunter and he trapped and relocated 3 of the rascals! Yes, you might get some damage from various critters, but it is usually not permanent. I have cleared out the area around the layout, so falling limbs/trees are not a problem (but leaves and pine needles are always a job in the fall). Hope this helps.

Yes, we want D&RGW locomotives (and rolling stock).

Mr. Bachmann,
I agree with Mudhen. We NEED some new D&RGW items. I have suggested repaints and maybe even some slight modifications (use 1:20 headlights, tender, etc) of the 'Annie'. She looks very good with the 1:20 scale Bachmann (and other makes) 1:20 rolling stock. The new #168 being rstored would be a good paint scheme as would bothe the black C-19 schemes (applied to the 'Annie'). Wood cab on the #168, and the RGS blanked out window on the two D&RGW black models. Repaints and NEW models would be EXCELLENT!

Large / Re: Large Scale Forney coupler height problem
January 10, 2017, 11:06:15 AM
Friends,
If someone else encounters this problem, a simple solution is to add LGB knuckle couplers to the car behind the locomotive. These fit directly on the Bachmann Big Hauler cars with no modification. They work perfectly to match the Big Haulers, or other similar rolling stock with the 1:20.3 scale Bachmann locomotives.

Large / Re: Big Box Stores w/Christmas Sets?

Well said Loco Bill! I know Bachmann would like for the stores to sell their product, but the stores have to buy into it. It worked for awhile for Sam's Club.

Large / Big Box Stores w/Christmas Sets?

Mr. Bach Man,
Any Christmas sets in the big box stores (Sam's Club, etc) this year?

Dearest Bach-man,
Please consider releasing new paint schemes for the 'Annie' in Rio Grande for 2017. There has NEVER been a 'Flying Grande' herald 'Annie' released. Also, one like the scheme of C-19 #346 would be great. These would be popular to go along with the C-19's (yes, there is some scale differences, but they could run on same layout). The Cumbres & Toltec RR will be returning a 4-6-0 to service in the next year or two and these would be great for the railfan/modeler.  Rio Grande Southern #20 would also be an excellent addition to the 'Annie' lineup, as that loco is returning to service at the Colorado Railroad Museum. These would be greatly appreciated.

Ted

sageskipper,
Try large on-line hobby shops/stores as they may have the newest D&RGW 'Bumblebee'  'Annie' with all metal gears in stock.

Chuck,
Thanks for the reply and photo. Loco looks great. I have done a few of these myself, in the past, but nothing is quiet as good as a factory paint job (in my opinion). I have used Stan's lettering in the past as well. I second your statement that he does good work.
