Dear Barry,
We don't, as a rule, offer body shells.
Sorry!
the Bach-man
Huh?? You most certainly do..Almost every shell you make is available at one time or another..Of course, not the one he's looking for, only the ones you make..

N / Re: Flex Track pro's & con's

I've seen a piece on N half an N track, bent around a 50 cent piece, used the coin for the inner rail, and a Dockside loco ran on it,worlds smallest railroad..So,yeah,you can put a tight radius on N track..
I wouldn't be caught using anything but flex..The only downsides are skill needed to bend it smoothly, cut it correctly, and solder it solidly..All those skills are needed to be a model railroader, and should be developed..It's all just modeling..

With the new powered frog turnouts, this loco is a great runner.I'd love to see an updated version of the original with the full valve gear...An 0-4-0 exactly like it ran not three miles from me on the West Pittston & Exeter, the shortest railroad in the world..

I have several ABBA sets of the old F7's I custom painted and detailed.I'm not sure if the new ones have the same coupler pockets, but on the old ones, you could use the MTL snap on pocket with Uni Mates to get them closer. The MTL's put them WAY out there,so I only put them on the pilots of the A's..

How about ANY Baldwin diesel? Besides the Sharks, there's only the Atlas VO-1000,not a single road unit..I know I'm wasting my time, but what screams "Northeast" more than a CNJ Babyface? At least as popular as the Sharks..

Mike,I really kinda want to keep at least three of them intact. My brother in law and sister in law used to live near a hobby shop that sold used stuff in Maryland.Every Christmas,we all exchanged gifts, when they got my name, they always bought a used locomotive for me.Both passed away over the last three years,so,there's a lot of sentimental value attached..Any kind of sending back is kinda out of the question..

Lou,
If Bachmann no longer has the gears you need, check the following link. I hear they are not cheap but they may haves the gears you need if you can't get them anywhere else.

Brewman,I've already looked at NWSL for gears for these locomotives, they don't seem to have them..I've got NWSL wheelsets on quit a few of my older locomotives, mostof my TRIX locomotives, & Arnold switchers..

N / Re: trying to start in models trains
December 14, 2013, 06:08:40 PM
If I were just starting,I'd go to a club, even if it was a different scale, get advice from them as to what to buy,ETC..The biggest thing? Don't waste money buying cheap stuff to start, just so you can get more quicker.I started model railroading 40+ years ago, other than the more expensive stuff I bought then, everything else is gone.
The numbers after the steam locomotives is the Whyte System,a number designation to identify the wheel arrangements of steam locomotives. The first number is the guide,or front truck. Each axle is counted as 2 wheels,so a loco with no front truck is a 0,one axle is 2,2 is 4,and so on.Same with drivers, and the rear truck.Although there are more wheel classifications, here's a general list of arrangements, and their names:

http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/belgian/smashsys.htm

This is certainly not a complete list, one railroads 4-8-4 Northern, known nearly everywhere as such,is a Wyoming on the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and a Lackawanna on the Lackawanna RR..

I have a few older Bachmann Steam locomotives that have just become too much to keep running. Most have bad gears. Some have no longer produced shells,or shells I built/painted,some were gifts..I'd rather not return them,I'd just as soon fix them myself, but the gears aren't available from your normal parts store..Is it possible to get them from you anyway? They're all older white gear Northerns,2-8-0's,and 0-6-0's..THANKS!!!!..LOU

LV Lou, I would not replace them with a SD45 motor as it is only a three pole unit. There are better Bachmann 5 pole units around. :o
Hunt Tower
That may very well be,but the SD45 runs fine,I have 9 of them, never had motor problems.

Spectrum..I could buy the motors and do it myself for 12 bucks..Not so sure I even want to do that if they're the same motors, they've always been a headache..Looks like the SD45 motor may fit...

N / Returning locomotives?
March 24, 2010, 11:35:59 AM
I have a bunch of the old, first run Bachmann 8-40C's and 8-40CW's,probably 12 or more. The motors are really getting to be a headache,if they sit for a month or so,the shell has top be removed to"jumpstart" it,then they run terrible for ten minutes or so,and they're all REALLY slow.I took the best chassis from the lot,and put them under my favorite set of locos, but I'd like to return the rest for warranty..What's the procedure for old locos like this? Will I get the same roadname back,or can I get different locos in the same type?[SD45's instead of -8's?]..THANKS!!!

N / Re: F7 new colors needed

One thing I'd really like to see is the Spectrum F's made as F3's,also.A fairly simple shell update to  an existing chassis that would add a much needed loco to the N roster..Almost every railroad that was around in the 50's had F3's,most that did also had F7's,and ran them together..
