Did you try running it on seperate test track? Anything is possible. If problem exists, it does sound like a bade reverse board.

Careful! (1) Purchase MUST be from a bone fide WBB dealer.
2. RECEIPT must be also be from a bonfide WBB dealer.

Other wise, "warranty" repair will be done per se, but NOT free of charge. Also, repair must be submitted with in ONE year of purcahse date.

Hint: just think of ALL the ebay sales these days. Joe Shmoe selling his MINT GP9, never opened/sealed, and he's NOT a WBB dealer. If Mr Customer receives it, puts it on the track and does not run....to bad. Bachmann will not honor any warranty repair (free), even if less then one year old.

If you are skeptical about my information, pull out your warranty cards and READ it.

I've heard of  NO problems over the last 20 years....except one. I think it was the GP 9 RI. It has 3 paint schemes (black, red/white stripes). Other than that one, I'd say go for it!

Getting the "parts" section up and running has been difficult for now. I just don't seem to get the time to work on this section.
Best advice:  EMAIL what you need, I'll try my best to find the part. If possible, I MAY even scavage a NEW train to get you the part, and put the rest on the "parts" section.

Lee F comment is 100% correct. If by chance you have a unit with QSI, SOMEBODY installed it, not Williams.

Back in the 1990-2000 time frame, you could purchase a Williams AA set with a HORN only or with TRUSOUNDS. Every set was marked either "HORN" or "TRUSOUNDS", depending on WHICH model you purchased.

The TRUSOUNDS boards were made by OTT MACHINE WORKS (that's what I was told years ago), and were installed in the MFRG process. If my memory is correct, the TRUSOUNDS were also sold as a after market purchase through WILLIAMS.

Several years ago when Williams was making BERKS, there were about 15 of them. One of them was the L&N, with the paint scheme you like.

Sadly, it has not been made since.

Actually, if your concern is the insulators falling off the pantograph, do what some body has suggested: glue them to the pantograph.

As for monting the ENTIRE pantograph, it should just "pop" on. Line up the SINGLE  hole on the pantograph, with the mounting post ON the engine, and push down FIRMLY.  It WILL indeed "POP" into place.

To take OFF the pantograph: make sure to pantograph is DOWN.  Grab the pantograph at the BASE....where the insulators are on top of the roof area. With a slight rocking motion back and forth, pull UP on the pantograph firmly. It WILL pop off. Don't be afraid that it will break, it should not, if you have grabbed it by the base.

WHERE do you "see" this "51923" number? On a box? A Label? Printed on the bottom of engine?
I don't recognize the number. If it helps, Williams sold out to BACHMANN in the Fall of 2006, so it's at least 2006 or older model.

They will RUN on 0-27, but going into a 0-27 curve, the cars will HANG over the track as it goes around the curve. They will not negotiate 0-27 switches either.

I have an old FM Trainmaster PRR By williams this is so old it has the plastic fuel tank area instead of diecast which Williams switched to for weight. any way my question is will this run on O-27 track I know the new ones say O-31 

As already advised, will not run on 0-27. But all may not be lost. After the first track (of the curved section) put a STRAIGHT section, then your next curve. The straight can be a full track, but a half straight (5 inches) or even SMALLER will take out the curvature

Now that I think about, yes, numbers do get changed, but not every year. That's what I was really thinking about.  Perhaps"the Bachmann can answer this one. I don't have one to look at, to see what'number is on on it.

Why do you have to drill a hole? What's wrong with it?

I have a suspicion (SIC?) that the traction tires you purchased were NOT Bachmann traction tires. I suggest you get them from BACHMANN directly through there service Dept, to be sure you get the right set of "tires". I suspect the tires you got are too big in DEPTH, and it only has to be off by a small fraction, to throw the engine off balance.
