Look at the WOW decoders from TCS.
You will be impressed and easy to install. https://tcsdcc.com/wowsteam

Put the speaker in the tender on the 2-6-0.
I liked the sound emitter put in the little Porters.

I get all my chain from Model Expo http://modelexpo-online.com/Modeling-Chain.
Their smallest is 42 links per inch which would be about 10 links per foot in 1/4 scale.
The 34 LPI you found would be 8.5 links per foot and probably a better choice, although more expensive.

Bachman honored the FREE for a year or so but you now have to buy the gears.

On30 / Re: 2017 ON30 annual magazine

Got my copy today.
I had pre-ordered in March, just before the closing date so they must be all caught up on the pre-orders.

Lot of good reading in this issue and some good ideas.

General Discussion / Re: Hinged entry to layout

A lift-out/ drop-in is much easier to build.
Hinges do not add anything to the "bridge" and can be a real pain.
Lift outs are so much easier but do as Jonathan said....lay the tracks first and then cut them.

Sure you can.  You won't ruin the loco.
It'll just sound weird if you use a 2-6-0 and the chuffs won't match the Heisler.

Ton,
If you can get to the glue spots, try applying acetone (finger nail polish remover) to the areas which should loosen/dissolve the glue.

Call the service center on the phone and ask for the replacement gear set.
This is a known problem and they used to send out replacement gears for free but you might have to pay for the set now.
There is a tutorial on this forum on how to replace the gears.
NWSL does NOT have any gears for it.

Most likely, the center pin is the common (input) and the other ends are output.

Grandt Line makes the end railing for O scale cars.
Half way down this page: http://www.grandtline.com/products/mrr/mrr%20car%20and%20loco%20detail%20parts/o%20details/o_passenger_details.html
Many dealers carry these parts or you can order direct.

General Discussion / Re: Digitraxx Sound Decoder
September 04, 2016, 10:48:26 AM
Tiger, speakers need a 'sound box' to prevent the sound from bouncing around in the tender and to make it one directional...out the bottom of the tender.  And yes, you definitely need the holes in the bottom of the tender.
The box can be anything that fully encloses the back of the speaker...styrene is a good choice to make your box from.
