If you are interested and really want ET&WNC flat cars you can get two different versions from Keith Wiseman.

I've made oil bunkers out of styrene and I've also used the oil bunker from the inside frame 4-4-0. That looked the best.

It's not hard either way.

The release of low and high side gondola sides would make it easy to create "pipe gons" similar to those used by the Rio Grande in the 1950's oil and gas rush that saved the narrow Colorado/NM narrow gauge till the late 1960s.

They are not exact replacements but they are archbar trucks.

You might want to try to obtain San Juan Car Company ON30 D&RGW archbar trucks. Better detail as well.

On30 / Ideas for On30 Kitbashing

From a recent trip to Wales to ride the Welsh Highlands Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway. Of particular interest should be the 190 - not a prototype for the upcoming 2-6-2 but paint, some detail changes, and imagination - it's a starter.

One of these!

Newly restored to operation. REAL 30 inch gauge superpower! Note how "small" the locomotive is compared to a man.

I would love to see an On30 version of Argent Lumber Company #5. I would think it would make the On3 guys happy as well - another locomotive that could be converted to On3.

On30 / Neat Industrial Line

This line begs to be modeled. I think the power unit from the Bachmann trolley car would make a good start for the locomotive.

The 2-8-2 used by the U.S. Army was built to a variety of gauges ranging from 3 ft., to one meter, to 3'6". It was a versatile design intended for mass production. The White Pass had eleven sent up to Skagway by the U.S. Army and kept several after the war (190-200). Two were later purchased (190 and 192) for tourist railroads (Tweetsie and Dollywood) and are still in service. One still remains in Skagway.

On30 for some reason has catered to the smaller end of the narrow gauge spectrum and that's fine. I ponied up for a Heisler even though it's really small.

I would love it if Bachmann produced some larger geared locomotives. The Shay was too small for my tastes. I won't be purchasing another Heisler.

My roster is large enough.

But a nice sized two truck Shay, say 24-37 tons, and I'd part with hard earned cash. Same with a bigger Heisler. I would love to have a model similar to the wagon topped boiler Heislers on the Westside Lumber Company. I'd speculate a fair number of On3er's would buy these and convert them to On3.

But I'm not going to hold my breath.

All I can see is electricity and running water with men walking in water. A good reminder of how dangerous mining is as an occupation. I would imagine there is no safety inspections in these mines either.

On30 / Re: Timber Getting in NSW - 1924

If you read the comments, one of the individuals who posted ancestors worked on the logging line shown. According to him the train "coasted" down hill which was a dangerous practice.

I guess that would require the locomotive being "in neutral" and it would certainly explain the speed. I would love to know if that was possible to do with a Climax.

On30 / Re: Powered tender for the three geared locos

I believe if you go to the FB page for On30 Kitbashing there is a gentleman who will make the center truck out of a pair of regular trucks, allowing for the pass through. You provide the two trucks, he converts them into one for a fee - it was reasonable if I recall correctly.

I would imagine the Climax would be the best bet to convert into a three truck locomotive. The Shay and Heisler are too small in my opinion.

If it wasn't the On30 FB Kitbashing page, then it was one like Oscale narrow gauge. Had the photo of a finished truck.

Hope that helps.
