Hi,
I have an EZ Command unit and it says in the manual that one of the features is, that it has 28/128 speed steps. Nowhere can I find how to enable the 128 or the 28 speed steps feature.
How do I switch from 28 to 128 (or reverse) speed steps?

Hi,
I have an EZ command unit and it does not work. I have measured that there is no 5 VDC at the vdd input (pin 20 of the micro chip). The power supply input to the unit is fine. I think it is some were in the 5Vdc line that the problem lies. Does anybody have a schematic of the EZ command station? Has anybody ever has such a problem and found a way to fix it?

Yes I also found That page from Jim Banner and I did the same as you. All the buttons fell out but I managed to find what I wanted to know.
I wanted to find a way to control the EZ Command unit instead of with the control knob, with a computer. I am building a little micro processor circuit that can now connect the EZ command with my PC
If I am successfull I will see if anybody is interested.

Hi,
Yes the shaft does touch the frame. The motor casing has a metal bushing where the metal shaft goes through. This bushing is mounted in the chassis of the loc. That is the way the motor is mounted.

I understand that a DCC decoder wired to the motor wires should never have any connection with the chassis in DCC operations.
When I check my motor contacts with a meter I see that there is about 47Kilo ohm resistance between the contacts (brushes) and the shaft that goes through the motor. There is no way I can insulate the motor shaft from the brushes. The shaft is mounted inside the metal motor housing. So it is all metal on metal.
Can anybody help me.
I have a Minitrix 12860 loc and would love to make it run in DCC operations.

I had one more question. I read somewhere that I need a resistor in series with the present light bulbs of my analog loc when I change a loc from analog to DCC. I cannot find anymore where I read this.
Is this true? and what value of resistor do I need?

Hi,
I am planning to buy a Bachmann EZ command system (because of price constrains) and a Digitrax DZ125 decoder. I have an older Minitrix 12860 N scale Swiss loc and also an Fleischmann N scale loc.
Since the Minitrix uses 12VDC and the Fleischmann uses 14 VDC (they are both analog locs) can I use them both with the EZ command?

Can you tell me if I can use Digitrax decoders with the Bachmann EZ command system?
The Digitrax decoders are smaller and the Bachmann decoders don't fit into my N scale locomotives.
