Hi Guys!

Playing around with Photofiltre, I came up with these shots of my HO Models;

Hi Guys,

Even though it is not done, I'm pushing myself and have accepted an invitation to display my 2X20 switching layout at the Gratiot Valley Train Show.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Re: calling Jim Banner - wiring q?

Hi guys,

I hooked up that tort to double as a reserving loop DPDT switch, and thanks to Hippie and Jim Banner, I was able to wire it right the first time, and it works great.

I don't think it will be annoying for the loco to wait a second on the reversing section.

Thanks Jim, this is just what I was looking for!

Thanks,

..but I don't see what connections to use for the track power and which to use for the reversing section of track. I don't think I'll mind the "wait" while the loco sits in the reversing section.

Maybe someone could sxplain it further... thanks in advance.

 Hi guys,

The wiring diagrams that come with the Tortoise don't show what I want to do, I think.

I thought I had heard that you can use the middle six anodes on the tort as a switch. I envisioned having one toggle, a DPDT switch, to control the DC current which throws the switch motor, AND wiring track power (AC current) through the remaining anodes on the Tort to reverse the "polarity" of the isolated, reversing section of my track at the same time.

Is this possible, and can someone 'splain how to do it?

Thanks in advance,

Just had to use the quote feature didn't you.....

But anyway, very nice job Kyle. I especially like the NP one.
Will you be keeping these, or will they also be up for bidding?

In my world, EVERYTHING is for sale. Look for these on Thursday at that auction site.

Thanks Bill and all for the kind words.

I do not have an airbrush, and do not use chalk. I don't have one set "recipe" for weathering. On the MILW, I started by spray painting the inside of the shell primer gray, allowing some over spray to dust the bottom half of the car.

Somewhere in there I gave it a coat of dullcote. Most of the rust you see is hand painted oils. I will also LIGHTLY dust the body with brown tempura powder, and pack some black tempura powder into the areas that would get greasy, like around the doors.

I'll take an alchohol swab and clean certain areas, like around the number.

I do have some cheap womens makeup I'll brush on with a soft brush to bring out the rivets and other high spots. I buff the shell with a soft shoe brush. I did not do a black wash on this one.

Thanks for the interest.

EK

ps. Here's a new one from a P2K kit.

I wish you could put a link to the item you are considering, then we could answer you q better.

I have ordered these....

...and these from Hong Kong.

They were very inexpensive, but the voltage was an issue. Track power will melt them. So I power them with a 9v battery, or an old DC transformer trottled about halfway up.

You could also canabalize a "wall wart" from an old phone charger or something. Cut off the end to make the wire leads available. May sure it says something less than 12 volt on the transformer.
