General Discussion / Re: N scale connection

Go into parts and service on this web page and look for the engine which I believe is a 4-4-0 and look at the spares list.
If you have no joy there contact Bachmann service department and ask the question of them.

Thanks for the info on the Amherst show, all thing being equal I might make a trip over. I went to a show in Monroe WA earlier this year which I found very entertaining.

You could make your own tester up by using an LED bulb.  They only work if connected the right way i.e. positive to positive, on the ones I have it is the white wire that is the positive if you have pos to neg it does not light.  Power all the track up and go all round and it should show up if any part of the track has a problem.

Hi, If I understand your query about power to the tracks before and after the turnouts, Model Power No 16628 do a track light tester which when the track is powered show the rails which are powered.  I have an equivalent piece if equipment made here in the UK and is invaluable when wiring the track.

General Discussion / Re: EZ Track.. ?

I would think long and hard before commiting to E - Z track.  I started off with it and have now given up on it and started again using Kato Unitrack which is much more friendly and better quality.  Kato offer a large range of track pieces etc.  Have a look at their track list etc at www.katousa.com.  Good luck

N / E - Z Turnout switches
March 19, 2010, 07:35:21 PM
Has anybody had any experience of repairing the motor or whatever powers the switch on the Bachmann 44861 turnouts. Bachmann state on the package that if switched for more than one second the motor could be damaged. This seems to me to be a very weak piece of equipment. Any remedies or input would be appreciated.

Apologies if this question has been raised before. Has anyone connected Kato Unitrack to E - Z track using the conversion track piece if not with that how.

I am sorry to say that I do not have one of these.  I got the measurements shown below from www.myatomic.com website.  It could be worth a phone call to MyAtomic and speak to Graham and ask if he could measure the actual track length for you. Good luck.

SPECS:    Scale:  N  1/160
Total Base Size -
Length: 4-1/2" (114mm)
Width:  3-1/4"  (82mm)

Bachmann 44879 is what we call a level crossing, if you mean a crossover from one oval to another they are bachmann 44875/6 and they measure about 12 3/4 inches in length.  So no, by removing  2 x 5 inch pieces will not do the job. It would have to be 3 pieces and put back short lengths to make it up again.  Trust all this makes sense.
