Large / Bachmann 3-truck Shay
March 22, 2010, 04:44:08 PM
I want to install an Aristocraft (Crest Electronics) Train Engineer Revolution control system in my G scale Bachmann Spectrum 3-truck Shay.  I need to purchase an additional board if the engine is not DCC ready.  What is the easiest way to determine if it is.  I looked at the wiring diagrams and I did not see any reference to DCC.  I also want to install a Phoenix sound system.  Do you have any advice?

Thanks to those who replied to my previous question.  After further investigation and tinkering, I now have power to both trucks, but only when I attach wires to the front truck.  Attaching wires to the rear truck will not power either truck.  I can cause a short if I attach the + & - wires to both of the wheels on the same side of the frame.  I am obviously getting power through the contacts, but not to general circuit to power both motors.  Any further thoughts?  Do you think Bachmann would repair this unit?  This unit is very detailed and painted.  I would not want Bachmann to replace the engine.  I have heard they keep that as an option.  Any additional help is appreciated.

Does the G scale Heisler have power pickup on all wheels?  I am only able to get my Heisler (just bought used) to operate when I apply power leads to the front contacts.  Nothing happens when I put the wire leads on the rear trucks.  Any suggstions???

Large / Kadee couplers for G scale Climax
October 06, 2009, 06:01:57 PM
I have a Bachmann G scale Climax.  I want to install Kadee couplers.  The Kadee instructions tell me to remove the original coupler bracket from the truck.  The directions inform me to see the exploded view of the side frame, brake shoe and coupler assembly in the operator's manual on page 28.   Here's the problem - I do not have this manual.  How do I remove the coupler bracket?    Is there a way to get a copy of this page?  I contacted sales and they do not have replacement manuals.  You are also instructed to see page 23.
