On30 / Stoney Point Demo Layout

Hello B'man,

Is there a track plan published of the Stoney Point Demo Layout?

I saw it in the 2010 On30 Annual and I have a surplus of EZ-track and thought I would lay this out.
It looks like there are some short curves and straight sections but I cannot tell which ones.

Would like to duplicate this if I could get a listing of the track pieces.

Thanks
John

Have to say THANK YOU TO BACHMANN,

Received all requested gears today

A couple more of our members received theirs as well.

Going to take awhile to get the all installed, but it will be nice getting the yard queens back on the road.

Again

Thank You

Will have to go out an buy another engine as a thank you.

Went through a similar issue with the Shay, at last they came out with a better set of gears that DO work.  The broken collar is an easy fix and it will last forever.

Maybe not the best solution, but a solution.

The new Spectrum locos are now equipped with a full Tsunami sound decoder (this includes the new Porters).

This is great news,  I am looking to add  a "keep alive" capacitor to my 0-4-2 and have a couple emails out to Soundtraxx.

So if I understand this correctly the Tsunami that is in the new Porters is identical to say a TSU-1000?

Taking it one more step then the connections for a "keep alive" capacitor would be the same then?

Thank You

Got my first 0-4-2 with sound the other day and it ran pretty good, but had some spots that it would stall out due to loss of pickup.

I added pickups to the trailing truck and it has improve greatly, but would like to persue the idea of adding a keep alive capacitor the the Tsuinami and looking for the way to do it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Have 3,  all three have stipped gears,   sent one back twice.  Now they are shelf queens.  Have thoughts of repowering one, but not rite now.

I have extended it out to about 30' using regular bachmann track.  I did have to add a wire for the cut section of track on the end bumper.  Just extend the wire that is under the track.

you can put any trolley or locomotive on the track, but only one at a time

Bet I could burn up a Lionel motor too,

This had NOTHING to do with Bachmann,  I burned them up playing with an idea.

Jim,

In total there where 3,  it looks like with a straight 9v battery hooked to the motor it will smoke the smaller motors all day long.  I did the same test to a Mogul motor and it was able to handle the inrush of current fine.  The one that I took apart had the brushes melted into the plastic housing.

Lesson learned..........  put a decoder or other speed control in between the motor and power source.

One of the motors that smoked came from a working locomotive that had the stock Bachmann board (not decoder) in place.

They where all the same motor, the small can motor.

Thanks

It is the screw that holds the motor to the frame

Well,

Decided that messing with these small motors with a 9v is not a good idea.  they work fine behind a decoder.  Tried a mogul motor  with the 9v and it was fine.  I can make the mogul motor work for what I want to do so that is the route I will head.

Everyone I explain this too cannot understand why it smoked really 3 motors smoked.  Going to stick with what works

thanks

John
