There it is! I had seen FM's picture on another thread and thought you might like to see it. I am glad he posted again. Question is how long of a car does he run and does he have any derailments?

I am fairly new as well but I have been doing some research for a new layout. What you are trying to make is a Crossover (see #44575 or #44576). The derailing is caused by the "s" curve that the two switches make. The crossover has a slighter turn into a straight section. The general rule is 9" of straight between opposing turns. I have learned a lot just by reading the others post! Hope this helps.

Are there any "rule of thumb"s or lessons learned about how close to run parallel track so that long cars don't collide? Lets use c/l to c/l of track for reference.  ???

Why? This is my biggest issue! There needs to be a 22" radius turnout!!!!
