On30 / Re: Blue point switch machines
October 05, 2007, 03:40:06 AM
I have installed a couple on my layout just to check them out and am
impressed; you do however have some restrictions as to where you
can use them due to having to get a pushrod to go to them without  too
many sharp changes in direction. It is alot easier to get an electrical wire
to these hard to reach places (but you can always use a regular switch
machine here and there as needed). Use the nylon r/c pushrods that they
recommend in the instructions.

On30 / Re: Forney and 18 inch radius curves
May 19, 2007, 05:01:22 AM
The Forney will do OK on 18" radius with a change of the rear coupler
to the longer shank (as found on the 0-4-2 Porter). This will allow the
rear of the Forney to swing out more without derailing whatever it is
pulling behind it.

General Discussion / Re: Model Railroader - April 2007
February 26, 2007, 10:51:13 PM
The one nice thing about recent issues of MR has been the articles
by Pelle Seoborg (who lives in Denmark), on scenery and backdrops,
and there was one a couple of years ago on laying flextrack that
should be required reading.
I have sliced all these articles out and put them into pocket pages,
creating my own collected edition of his work. I have never scene anyone
do better desert scenery.
That is the one nice thing. I have not been able to detect any others.

General Discussion / Re: Model Railroader - April 2007

The annual April Fools item in this particular issue has the distinction
of being the highlight of what I feel to be the all-time worst issue of
that publication. What a yawner.
