I thought the Digitraxx machine was cool too until
I saw the Lenz LS150 unit could control SIX switches!
Same price.  More bang......

Thanks Jerry, with a little looking I found Minitronics makes a little circuit board that's just the ticket. My eyes, hands, feet, eyebrows, whatever just arn't what they used to be. It's a lot easier to install a complete assembly than have to cluge up a board anymore  :)

Thanks again for your help

General Discussion / Over Easy Switches
April 21, 2010, 08:36:17 PM
Hi, It's me the pest again.  I heard (dreampt) about a way to add capacitors to the manual switches so if you lean on them, or like I did put a book on them you won't fry them (over easy, get it :). Anyway, anyone heard of this beast? If so how's it hooked up? A schematic would be nice.

Oh, one other thing.  I ordered a couple of Lenz Stationary Decoders for the switches. I would like to keep my manual switches around as a backup.  There close to a yard! Any ideas about the combination?

Got to keep the forum flowing!

General Discussion / Re: Question for Bach Man
April 21, 2010, 01:28:16 PM
Well After a egg hunt of sorts, I came to find out that the Bachmann stationary decoder is only sold in Europe.  Wonder why that is?  Curious minds want to know! Any other stuff Bachmann decided NOT to sell in the states and for what reason?  I'm not knocking Bachmann.  But when a higher up in the company tells me to buy from another company when Bachmann has a perfectly acceptable product I was willing to buy, I would like to know why?  OK, off the soap box and back on with the engineers hat! I must in all honesty thank the person I talked to for some VERY informative information.  Being a newbe it's nice to know folks won't look down on you when you don't know or ask the stupid question. CASE CLOSED  Latter.

You know what, I just figured out what you ment by manual or automatic! Sorry about that.  Your talking about me doing it vs automation doin it. What a dummy I am! anyway, it's me. I'f I ever get an answer to my next question it might be "automatic".  Again, sorry about that.

It's an Atlas Snap Switch so it must be automatic! Sorry I just couldn't pass that one up! Anyway, You know it's hard to use a file down there in that track. Soooo I took out my niffty Dremal tool.  Using a carbide wheel, t'was easy to file that sucker down to needle point. So the outcome is the Shay is now making the turn about 80-85% of the time.  Is that OK? Sure is better that it was! I really want to thank you all again for all the help and stick-to-it-ness you showed me. I hope I can pay this forward some time in the future.  Oh, and if anyone happens to know about the next post I put up I'd sure like to hear about that!  Thanks again.

General Discussion / Question for Bach Man
April 19, 2010, 07:56:38 PM
Still working on the switch!

Another question though?  Where can I buy a Bachman stationary decoder part number 36-561 for my layout? This is quoted as being available in my Dynamis Ops manual.  Thank you.

Hello all,

Well I stole my wife's makeup mirror and with my xenon flashlite got a very cloeup look at the inboard trucks as it goes into that switch.  The leading wheel is slicing the switch rail and following the inboard rail straight instead of following the switch piece to turn.   I've tried bending the leading edge of the switch piece slightly both in and out without sucess.  Any other suggestions?  I'm about to go get another switch and do the "switch switch!"

General Discussion / Re: Pro Box computer hookup
April 18, 2010, 11:30:26 PM
Hello,
I'm a Dynamis/Pro owner too. The cable you revieved with your Pro Box is an interface cable for interfacing to the ESU control system. They concider the Dynamis a slave device, not a controller! The Pro Box is just a Booster! I did talk to folks at Bachman the other day and they said that ESU is comming out with a firmware upgrade for the Dynamis allowing it to talk to other systems, and possably PC's.  This is due out by end of 2010. I guess that's better then a poke in the eye with a stick! Get on the ESU forum.  Bug them for the interface! I am.  I don't think they realize they have customers in the US. Stay tuned.
