Okay I understand the BlueRailTrains system may be useful to someone not already invested in a DCC system sometime in the future when it may be operated from a smart phone.  It won't work with AirWire and it isn't a sound board.

Update - I did install the AirWire CONVRTR-60x. and removed the G3 decoder.  The converter does as advertised linking the AirWire throttles with the Bachmann Thomas and Friends soundboard. I have it running though I must admit I'm disappointed in the quality of the sound.  I guess I've been used to Phoenix for so long anything else just doesn't measure up.  Does anyone know if there is another sound supplier out there for Thomas and Friends?

Is the BlueRailTrains system a Thomas sound board and is it compatible with the AirWire throttles?  I have battery power only with my 1,000 ft of mainline.

I purchased a Bachmann Large Scale Thomas and Friends sound board ($99) to install with my AirWire G3 decoder already installed in my Thomas.  The Bachmann install instructions do not cover this particular situation.  I emailed Soundtraxx who didn't know how to install the board.  I next emailed CVP Products.  They said it could be done with their CONVRTR-60X which is $138.  Bachmann customer support could not help me but did advise me to post the question on this forum.  Can anyone advise me on how to do this install?
Thanks,

Large / Three Truck Shay trouble shooting
October 23, 2011, 12:47:10 AM
I have a Spectrum 3 Truck Shay.  I converted it to battery power with Airwire control.  It has been running fine for two seasons until today.  The middle truck stopped.  The front and rear trucks are running.  I opened it up and checked my wiring.  The front and middle trucks have orange and green motor wires and are connected to the same decoder board terminals.  The front truck is running fine but the middle truck has stopped.  I reconnected the wires to confirm a good contact with negative results.

My question:  How do a trouble shoot the middle truck's motor?  If it's bad how do I replace it?  I can't figure out how the trucks are connected to the chassis/tender.

Thanks for your help,

Rex

Large / Wiring Connections for 55 Ton Three-Truck Shay
September 07, 2010, 11:23:12 AM
I'm converting my brand new Shay to battery RC.  The wiring diagram shows wiring to G824X-PCB04 but no indication of what the purpose is of this board.  The other boards either go to the trucks or the LED lighting.

Help,

Rex
