I thank every one for all the tips with regards to converting the Doodlebug to DCC.  What an amazing group of fellow modelers. :D  John

Tom,

Thanks for the tips.  Strange, one would think that Bachmann would put a note on the exploded parts page.

Rich,

Thanks for the heads up on suppliers and the possibility of a short in the DCC socket.

Thanks for the link on the TSU-750.  Now the search will be on for best price and availability.

Rich, thanks for the reply.  Let's hope I get lucky and have a plug and play solution.  John

I thank every one for such prompt replies.  And yes, I do have a supply of tooth picks. :) :)

To make things more interesting I plan to shorten the Doodlebug to 40 or so scale feet.  My layout has many 15" radius curves.

But first I will proceed with DCC conversion.

Thanks for your prompt reply.  Sounds like good news.  I am now learning how to take the body off.

I have 2 Doodle Bugs that I would like to convert to DCC.  Do you have any suggestions?

I have recently purchased a pair of Bachman 45 ton switchers with DCC on board.  In studying the parts explosion page that comes with locos I see that the frame has a location to hold a speaker.

I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me what sound system would be compatible with the locomotive.

General Discussion / Re: auto reverser
December 16, 2010, 01:14:09 AM
No sir.  My question at this post was about the auto reverser.  I know about the other unit and I have one.  It of course will not work on a "Y".

I agree with Jim.  I use DCC to run the locomotives, but I wire the turnouts (switch) the old fanshin way and place the buttons (switches) near the turnout location.  In cases where practical I use manual throws.

General Discussion / auto reverser

Is the Bachman auto reverser, part #44548 compatible with DCC?

Just an update:

I have written to many manufactures about auto reverse on a "Y".  Of all, only one has responded to my question(s).  The respondent is MRC.

MRC feels that the AD520 can do the job.  They even emailed me a wiring installation diagram.

I have since prepared my "Y" per their instructions and ordered the AD520.  I also asked MRC if the AD520 could be used as a auto reverse unit on a straight section of track.  The answere is the 520 is not a auto reverser.

After the 520 arrives I will install and report back.

To all who have responded to my question I thank you.

Wishing all a Great Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
