General Discussion / bachmann gp 30 down hill speed
September 19, 2011, 02:41:44 PM
I have a Bachmann GP 30  that want s to run away going down a 4%  grade. Does it even when no cars are attached.
My other locomotives seem to do it. I am using a Bachmann dcc system. none of the of the others contolled by this seem to runaway.
Any ideas on how to control it better?
Thanks

How good a puller is the above mentioned loco.
Will it handle multiple log cars on a 4% logging grade with 18 degree curves?
Or possibly a better question what steam loco will work best?
I have duplicated a White River Lumber Company operation near Enumclaw wa.
This is before the big W bought out the Smith and Olson families.
I have a 3 truck dc Spectrum Shay and it does lack traction.

General Discussion / bachmann dcc system
May 17, 2011, 03:27:46 PM
I am considering a Bachmann dcc controller for my lay out.
I have various brands of.... steam and diesel locomotives.I only have I locomotive that is dcc ready.
What sound decoder would be compatible with the Bachmann system and would Bachmann motor  decoders be compatible with any locomotive .
Can you give me a ball park estimate as to what I should pay to have my other locomotives fitted with the required items to utilize the dcc system?
