HO / finger flick switching.
March 05, 2016, 05:14:09 PM
Had new knees installed, this gave me some tv time, love that u tube, watching a sweet logging set up from  down Maine, called alagash logging. wow if only I could find out how he changed the peco switchs to do that trick I have a dbl crossover in a tight spot and no room for switch stands. been setting that way for years now, no room from under side eather.  not flexable enough to reach in eather..when I bult this  layout 4'1\2x7' set up I wanted to slip one train into the inner track [good timeing] and the inner to the outer  track. now that I converted to dcc using the dynmas system I think that would be the cats meow.   Ive tried a few things none worked very good. I have 36 foot stock  cars  and 4-4-0s that work very well for me. thank you very much for any help. GRZ.

HO / dynamis
January 19, 2016, 05:47:41 PM
perhaps this might help another, I truly like my dynamis  however I have] many  older dc locos that are just setting, and the cost of conversion is more than there worth, my layout is but 5'x7' with the dcc dynams I can operate five trains, [if Im left alone that is. ] in my dads  pile of stuff I found a wonderfull brass switch that is a complete disconnect for ether side, and in hooking this up I can now operate my lovely ole brass locos. on the same layout. now this this is where things can [and did ] go wrong. one time I forgot to turn the power off on the dynamis  when I switched to dc transformer .is says in your directions DO NOT TURN POWER ON UNTILL YOU PLUG THE TRACK IN.. I heard this strange sound that came from the dcc recever, as it was dieing. what a lost feeling let me tell you, those wonderfull folks at the Bachmann shop in Phily had me back rail roading in no time.at a very reasonable cost too. Bachmann your the best! GRZ.

HI,Im back.I guess I should have left this 4-6-0 63"driver high boiler loco on the table at the train show.ive orderd twice, tender parts for this neat loco, the lady at Bachmann is very helpful however, she sends me what I ask for, what a time trying to find the correct tender parts for it.some one out there must have one and can tell me what I need, the tender from my 4-4-0 plugs in and it works fine.but the tender is too small.and way too low, ive been through my tender collection and I have two that look good, the vandy, the pcb board  I cant cram it in no how-- the other tender has a metal floor, and will take lots of doing to make it a dcc tender.ive been through the Bachmann catalog so many times my fingers are sore.it seems the parts are scatterd over the catalog.and no good way to match them up.both tender chassis one dcc was too short and too low.the other the weighted one I cant find the correct shell for it.not only that its like they never bult this thing, ive looked in the favorite spot the bay you name it ive been there.I hate to give up but I think that's my next move.I now  have enough money in this project to have bought a new one.f rustrated-in  Vermont-Grz

HO / isolating yard leads
February 18, 2012, 06:50:27 PM
this may help others,I have three dcc locos, and six dc locos,I would like them[dc] locos to be in the yard ect,and ready for service without haveing to set them on when needed.rumiging through my junk box the other day, I found a box of micro switchs, one side normaly open other nomaly closed,I took the lever off[one screw] sliced the rail solderd the leads to track the other to normaly open side of the switch, screwed the switch under the deck so I could touch the little button on the switch I wanted to become active untill the loco was in service. the best part of all this is the track goes dead when you let go of the button, no worry of burning up a motor because you forgot to turn off that toggle! they have two mounting holes and line up neatly. im thinking of mounting them flush with the surface by the track they operate and haveing a number post with a screw with a short piece of wood so it could be twisted to hold the button . an old  old railroader name Grz

General Discussion / derailment at switchs
February 17, 2011, 12:22:05 PM
I'm still trying to find my way in this new world! well over 70 and new to this button way of conversing, I just read that someone was having problems with a loco passing a switch  and derailing, I had a problem with the selves that are covering the CDC wires[ there are two on each wire] would catch in the point and stop all forward motion in a instant. I slid them back and forward and glued them there.problem solved.. I may get brave and snip them off when I find they have no real use! Griz
