I purchased an On30 Whitcomb 50-ton center cab diesel.  It says "Sound Ready - DCC equipped". My definite intent is to put a specific DCC decoder in it (Blunai). I thought it came with a standard 21-pin decoder connector - and that I could just plug into that.  As I'm looking through it with the shell open, it mentions a "Whitcomb sound module" and I'm starting to question if I can just plug in a decoder so easily.

What is the process for me putting my own decoder (Blunami) inside this loco?

Large / Wish Dash9 was available with Blunami
October 26, 2023, 01:18:26 PM
As far as I can tell 2 of the most popular products out there are the Blunami and the Dash9. I wish the Dash9 was available with a Blunami decoder pre-installed.

Thomas & Friends / Need Blunami version of Thomas
May 08, 2023, 01:14:34 PM
I have SoundTraxx Blunami boards. Now my kids want Blunami Thomas. We need Blunami Thomas.

I was at Amherst and saw the SoundTraxx Blunami boards. Any chance we'll aver have any of that in Bachmann? I am mostly into Large Scale and Thomas.

Williams by Bachmann / Amperage draw on a Williams GP9

Does anyone know the amperage draw on a Williams GP9?

Do EZ App boards have an LED on the board that lights up when the board is receiving power?

I'm not talking about the headlight LED - I mean a small indicator on the board to let you see when it is receiving power.

Will Williams locos operate on DC power? Or does the track have to have AC?

Are there any old Bachmann function decoders that do not support CV read?

Possibly the old Lenz decoders? I have an old Bachmann decoder (small black), and when I attempt a CV read in service mode it is not responding. I was wondering if that is by design.

Are there any Bachmann decoders that don't support CV read?

I understand some Bachmann locos come with the loco address set to a number other-than 3.  Some products have the address set to the number painted on the loco shell.

Can someone please tell me which Bahcmann products come with the decoder NOT set to address 3?

Having a discussion with a friend. Has Bachmann ever made any DCC locos that do not have a replaceable shrink-wrap decoder in it?  Where the DCC decoder is integrated into a PC circuit board (without a separate decoder involved)? I imagine this could be the case with N scale, but I'm not sure.

Is there a site with shunting puzzle layout designs for EZ Track?

I'm familiar with Wymann.info (Inglenook and Timesaver). I was wondering if anyone ever made designs specifically for EZ Track?

I'd like to get some EZ Apps. I have a question. Does anyone ever have their shell off and know how much space is available between the shell and the circuit board? 5mm? 10mm?  Do any EZ App locos have more headroom above the board than others? Or is there basically no overhead space on any of them?

General Discussion / Questions about EZ Command
December 18, 2017, 02:33:34 PM
I am interested in EZ Command and have a couple of questions:

How many volts does the EZ Command put out?

Is the EZ Command used for HO and N? Or is there a second version for N?

Thank you.

I was curious about the exact spec of the DCC signal that comes out of the EZ Command, which from what I understand can be either connected to a track (to control 2 trains) or can be connected to a 5amp power booster.

It says 1 AMP. Is this 1 AMP peak or 1 AMP continuous?

Is it 14 volts?

Thank you.

Does anyone know what the max current draw is for Large Scale Thomas?

A friend is trying to add a decoder to a Large Scale Bachmann Heisler. I have looked through the online parts/manuals and cannot locate a manual to understand the wiring. I will put a picture of the board below. Can someone please help me identify the wires to add a decoder and/or possibly find the manual online?  Also, does anyone know if this loco has LEDs or incandescent?  Thanks

Can Bachmann DCC locos be programmed on the main? Or do they need to go on a programming track in Service Mode?

Can I take the shell from my Bachmann GP7 and put it on the chassis of a GP35 (EZ APP)?

I posted this question in the Thomas section and got no replies.

I am modifying a G scale Toby to run with a BlueRail board. Inside Toby, a set of orange and brown wires lead to a small round circuit board on the end of the motor. It seems to have some resistors and a few capacitors. What does this circuit board do? Can I leave this circuit board in place? (BlueRail uses the same pulse-width-modulation to run motors that a decoder does to run motors).
