N / M-T COUPLER LINK
July 26, 2007, 10:45:47 AM
Here's a link that shows each model number magne-matic coupler and its exploded view. "micro-trains magne-matic couplers in n scale".  Other links on this page look interesting.  For Bachmann diesel locos, it looks like the 1015 will work using the same mounting screw.  A little shell work might be required.

N / Coupler Help Please-Diesel
July 26, 2007, 10:02:43 AM
Can anyone out there tell me what magne-matic couplers I can use on a Bachmann diesel and where to buy them?  Right now I'm dealing with a Dash 8-40C machine.

Thanks in advance.

N / Bad couplers
July 24, 2007, 06:55:56 PM
I just received a Dash 8-40C replacement for an older model under the $20 warantee deal.  Neither one of the Rapido couplers work.  They will not engage any of my Rapido cars or other locomotives.  My first $20 replacement didn't run either.  This is my 2nd $20 replacement where the coupler didn't work.  BooHoo!  I give up.  Somebody has to check up on quality /  design.

N / Bachmann Waranty Confusion ???
July 10, 2007, 03:10:41 PM
I'm being told by a "Bachmann" e-mail that locos have a 90 days warantee and  he will not mention any "lifetime warantee".  90 days is it., BAM!
Has Bachmann dropped the lifetime warantee whereas after one year you send them 15 or 20 bucks to have an older loco repaired or replaced.

I recently got an N- Dash 8-40C replaced for $20 and I've just sent in another.

Hmmmm???

General Discussion / REAL LOCO FACTS REF.

WOW!  Type in the locos name on Google and see what links come up including  Wikipedia.   Loco history and other interesting facts.  Example, try " EMD  SD24"

N / LOCO DESIGN
June 04, 2007, 04:00:08 PM
N locomotive design has become excellent in the past few years.  It looks to me like Atlas and Kato have basically identical performance (and probably near identical mechanics).  Does the current Bachmann locos made in China enjoy basically the same mechanics or possibly the identical design as Atlas?

N / China, Japan or USA

Does anyone know where the Bachmann diesels are made or is that a company secret.  (Atlas from China, Kato from Japan).  I wonder who does the actual design.

Atlas and Kato are terrific machines.

N / Rapido to Knuckle Coupler Use
May 28, 2007, 05:50:47 PM
Take an older Rapido car and change one end to a MT-truck coupler assembly.  Then use this car as a "head end" car to connect a knucle loco to a string of Rapido coupler cars OR visa-versa.

I have about 60 $2 bulk Rapido freight cars from 13 yrs ago that I converted to MT magnetic knucle couplers using an MT truck/coupler assembly.  All works fine.

N / N-Locomotive Source

Do yourself a favor and check out Brooklyn Locomotive Works (BLW) on the net.  They have a terrific selection of locos and freight cars with color pictures and their delivery is very fast coming priority USPS.

I recently bought two new Kato NW2 switchers and these are perfect with new slow speed capability.  Museum quality.

Beware of lower volume retail dealers that might have a stock of older machines of all kinds.  They obviously don't throw out  obsolete stuff.

N / SPECTRUM N SCALE LOCOMOTIVES

Check out Brooklyn Locomotive Works for diesel locos with up-to-date mechanisms.  Beware of possibly older models sold elsewhere.  Bachmann needs to date their machine designs.
