 to the bachmann
i see that your china based parent company mfgs HO scale with some beautifull 2-8-0,'s mikados and mountains .but my interest is in n scale &would like to purchase these while in beijing or shanghai while there. i already have some hobby shops via google and translation, but cannot quite understand bachmann china's site in regards to scale.would you possibly have an answer,so when there in late may&early june ithat i could venture forth in my pursuit of obtaining the above mentioned locos if made in n scale. they would easily be a  nice addition on a n. american road.

as there are no stock of traction tires on bachmanns parts page or kato for that matter ,relating to re tiring my 2-8-0- connies &other locos ,and not wanting to buy bull frog snot,as i would never in my present lifetime 77 yrs  and counting.would like to know have any of you tried using rtv silicone sealant. here is a web site 32 pages long depickting the various types with facts &figures that go along with each, much like officer obbies comments on alices resturaunt song. i am sure i seen a post some where on one of the forums where it was used to great satisfaction. i thought i would pll fellow modelers before trying ,but try i will. regards &many thanks for those offering help&suggestions.

N / available ,unlettered &painted models
July 13, 2017, 11:51:01 AM
I see on BACHMANN'S homepage that they are listing the 4-6-0 item #51451 as available  unlettered&painted. does this mean that bachmann is considering on offering this option again? there was a post some yrs back that this option fell out of favor ,as product would sit longer on retailers  shelves longer etc. most of my bachmann dcc models were ordered unlettered unless i could buy them in cnr or cp lettering, that way i could apply my own decals. is this a testing of the waters or is it a one off available item. i  along with many other modellers would like to see if this option would be offered again.

yardmaster  i along with other interested forum members have wondered what happened to the new product announcement back in dec 2016.you replied to the forum member that they would arrive sometime in april 2017. is this now a dead product ,or has their been a production delay? or maybe are you going to re announce it at this yrs NMRA convention in orlando.this is the little stump puller that proved bachmann could make as good or better than its competition.i have several that still run tickity boo  after all these yrs that are dcc. as much as we would like to see new announcements ,i would love to see this and the heavy mountain released with sound , at my age 77 and with 2 implants i am not able to decoder installs  but still have all the enjoyment that model railroading has to offer, i have been in it since 1964.trusting you will have an update .

Dear sir, been a loyal&strong supporter of BACHMANN PRODUCTS &forum member for yrs. iam asking you are you aware ,that a rival mfg from japan has a new what do you want in a new steam engine poll .it is generating a lot of we wants. interestingly ,myself and others have been asking for a re release of your fantastic mountain loco along with a n scale version of your HO MIKADO, .there is also a lot of appetite for a hudson loco.  i don't hold much hope in there new release as they seem to only do western roads . i can't thank BACHMAN enough for all the steam for eastern roads that they do.maybe we will have a new surprise at this yrs NMRA CONVENTION.anyway any manufacturer should have a look at the other 2 excellent forums RAILWIRE &TRAINBOARD to see the poll results from the model rail community.perhaps you have already done this and if so kudos to BACHMANN.thank you again for all your support to n scale with all your steam locos release past&future. my personal request would be a 4-8-4 GTW NORTHERN ,but don't think i will live long enough to see one at 77,but here's hoping  regards&later KEWATIN

N / 2-8-0 new release
July 08, 2016, 11:55:16 AM
i applaud Bachmann for a update &re release of the connie with sound.this IMHO is what raised the bar with bachmann as to what they could offer up against the competition &raise the bar.i have few of these stump pullers and it looks like my wallet is going to take a hit once again.i would also like to see in the near future  bachmann to do the same thing to the heavy mountain that so many of us have asked for a re-run as a final thought an update &sound also to your northern 4-8-4 would fill the bill. i see also you have announced a versatile pacific with different road considerations in ho ,especially like the grand trunk one. i have long stressed on this forum that so many varibles could be done with your pacific&glad to see someone is listening
to their customer's comments.things certainly look good for the hobby's future. well done BACHMANN.

what a difference a yr makes, last yr on the forum there were all kinds of wants, speculations etc. this yr nothing.i just recieved my recent MR & Bachmann has a full page add on the back cover  of the GG 1,which was a release statement at last yrs convention.so it looks like nothing new here this yr so move along. the only thing i see is that the pantagrafs on the GG 1 are live & of course with sound where the KATO  doesn;t have these features but then there is a $250 dollar difference in price.their is a lot of speculation on other forums that there is a posability that bachmann will release a operating pantograf system, which would be nice if it happens.so many conversions could be done using their live pantografs off of the gg 1.i see 1 mfg has already announced the UNION PACIFIC big blow but at $400 i will have to pass.hoping bachmann will give us news of a N SCALE MIKADO 2-8-2 for the upcoming yr.

i have noticed a lot of questions about this topic showing up on forums and would like to ask how many of you program cv3 &4 when using your locos. the idea is to be able to have a loco with a long coal drag to start out very slow and to accelerate up to road speed and then to stop the same way when decelerating.these cv's are also good to use when running locos in consist or speed matching to a point.on my broadway lmtd. diesels i can see a marked improvement when playing with these settings.they set there default at 5. i don't seem to have the same response when setting up on my bachmann dcc locos.i know bachmann supports cv3&4 but not sure of there factory default# could someone please provide it please.any settings  any of you have had success with the following locos  2-8-0 ,heavy mountain,2-4-0, 4-6-0 etc would you be so kind as to post them  as a starting point to get some success  for more real type train operation on ones layout. this topic probably won't appeal to a lot of folks but for some it can give some pleasurable train operations on their  layout.looking forward to your responses.

i see on another forum that states a large retailer in new york city TR WRLD is taking orders.checked their website and gives price but with a back order status.i don't see any new announcement regarding this fact on BACHMANN'S WEBSITE so am somewhat confused, but you never know.sure could use some for xmas but i think highly unlikely.but one never knows with backmann. look at the big surprize at this yrs NMRA  show, talk about well kept secrets.
maybe yardmaster in his wisdom can shed some light on this item.

thinking of buying a powered wheel cleaner ie woodland scenics model & or trix unit. my main concern is do these units damage or eat the traction tires as most of you know these are little buggers to change out in some cases.my point is yrs back i used to push my traction tired locos off my re railer on to the track and yes i managed to damage a few.i run kato track om my layout and use alcohol swab  pads to clean my track ,which i do get good service out of ,but still pick up dust and lubricants.thats a given. presently i use a a xacto knife tip to clean any buildup, but it is very tedious work.also can you clean rolling stock wheels with either of these units.? any and all comments&experiences will be greatly appreciated before  buying one of these units. thanking you all in advance.

N / Bachmann's trend setting approach to n scale
September 20, 2015, 02:19:56 PM
looking at my new k4 i suddenly realized that bachmann released this loco a few yrs back in HO scale and it would appear that most product they have or are doing in n scale has been in most cases done by them in ho scale.i started going back thru old catalogs but the answer to my question was sitting right their on their  ho parts catalog that is on line at their website.if i am correct in my thinking this bodes well for continued releases &support from bachmann regarding n scale.i am sure i am not the only rail hobbyist whom is aware of this.examples are 2-8-0,4-8-4,2-6-0,4-6-0 ,EM1yellowstone,2-6-6-2 mallet, berkshire ,2-10-2,both mountains heavy&light etc. the ho crowd has them and so do we.now that it would appear they have dropped the SPECTRUM LINE & offer dcc &sound only as way to the future i can see them revisiting the 2-8-0,heavy mountain&EM1 as they already have holes drilled in the tender base for future sound installation.the future possabilities for release are 3 truck shay=ho version already has dcc &sound ,many versions of the 4-8-4 northerns  streamlined and otherwise.i would like to see their 2-10-4 which i never knew they made.also they could do the modern 4-4-0 richmond as bachmann does small locos really well.their past release of their chinese 2-8-2 mikado is also a good looking engine  that they they did a few yrs back.in closing i would say that the future looks goodboth for support&new product.the reviews i am reading regarding the k4 pacific are outstanding and some say have surpassed kato's mike which is supposed to be the benchmark for others to follow.well in my estimation BACHMANN has long passed that threshold with their 2-8-0,etc.the downside to this is i now must add a booster as i can only safely run 3 sound equipped locos with dcc&sound,6 with strait dcc.but thats my problem &the fact i am running out of yrs waiting for new product.so come on MR BACHMANN keep the 2 loco release program coming, you are the new dominant player.KUDOS AND MANY THANKS

N / K4 PACIFIC headlight change when operating in reverse
September 16, 2015, 03:11:03 PM
you can change your headlight to go out in reverse instead of dimming for more protypical type running by changing CV33 TO 1. as their is no tender light the choice is yours to do as you see fit.i did this to my loco,my preference.

N / WHY HAVEN'T MFG'S MOVED TO 3 D PRINTING
September 08, 2015, 12:38:13 PM
With all the pent up demands for this model or that model discussion that comes up on this and other train forums.and with the day by day advances in whats possible with 3 d printing ,i am somewhat dismayed that some of these mfg's could &would create a small run of models that have POP,LEGS & APPEAL =SALES WHICH MEANS pop garners your attention, legs means will hang in there to sell well etc. look at what JASON SMITH from tomball loco works has produced.and in many cases he uses BACHMANN running gear.also there is a fellow called N GINEER on shapeways whom has a ton of stuff that currently isn't available on to days market.it seems to me that the potential is there to produce just about anything you would want as a modeler. the prices have also come down and their are a ton of designers available to create our pent up demands.with this technolagy changing every day in leaps &bounds i am somewhat surprised that some of our mfg's haven't made the plunge and tested the waters.i have seen many changes in my lifetime and this to me certainly looks like the future.i can see it all now hundreds of models being printed an hour, you name it you got it. i could be entirely wrong ,but i think not.i exspect a wide variety of comments, which is good ,as it promotes new thinking &ideas/

I took a look at MARK'S excellent &up to date website called spookshow, showing all locos mfg since approx 1968.after looking at all the BACHMANN  releases, there are a number of locos that they have not produced for one reason or another . example 4-42 atlantic,4-6-2 pacific,4-6-4 hudson. diesel  pioneer zephyr,sd7&9's, fairbanks morse erie built locos, and the baldwin shark rf-16a&b which bachmann mfg for MR.AL MUNIZ ER MODELS these were real good locos &excellent runners &dcc ready.but apparently they ended up in litagation &he claimes the existing stock back from bachmann in 2008. would be great to see bachmann revisit this model for  mfg,but not sue of the legalities involved.one thing in looking at spookshows site is bachmann has revisited there models ,refined ,improved and updated and or re-released them so kudos to bachmann for this.i have just scratched the surface on this topic and am sure there will be a lot more suggestions&thought  posted which is good ,because any company worth a salt will read these topics &produce accordingly.thanks again to all the effort mark put into his spookshow website as i use it before making any purchase to make a decision to buy or not buy, based on his evaluation.
