Did I miss the announcement of these? Looks great!

I'm looking at page 11 of the July August Gazette.

HO / Climax Lighting Help
December 26, 2018, 04:17:57 PM
HO 2 truck Bachmann Climax. It is one of the originals from maybe 15 years that I sent in because of g**r issues. Bachmann sent me a whole new body with the metal gears to bring it up to modern Spectrum standards. Runs beautifully. The issue I have is that regardless of which decoder I put in, which direction it is headed, or how I have the F0 functions programmed, both front and rear lights turn on/off with F0. I.e, there is no directional lighting.

The circuit board in there is labelled H806X+PCB03 Rev-A 2015/04/16.

I've swapped decoders so that isn't it. I've changed F0 function mapping with no luck (other than turning them completely off.) The only thing I notice is that the proper oriented light (forward when going forward and back light when going backward) is slightly brighter than the opposite. So, switching from forward to reverse, the forward light dims very slightly and the back light brightens very slightly. And vice versa. But both lights are on. I would like your basic directional lighting.

Any help (short of just hard wiring the decoder) is greatly appreciated!

General Discussion / Bachmann Service Department
June 24, 2015, 11:51:04 AM
I just wanted to publicly show appreciation for Bachmann's service department. Today I received a call less than 48 hours after Bachmann received my broken engine to let me know it had been repaired and all the testing they did to ensure its continued operation. I wish I would have asked the gentleman's name, but he was most pleasant to talk to.

As frustrating as it is to have to send something in, it's nice to hear a friendly voice on the other end. It's not my first dealing with the service department - it hasn't always gone this smoothly - but most of us are quick to pass blame when something doesn't go right. So I wanted to pass along my very good experience.

Much appreciated,
Scott

General Discussion / Can't Update "My Account"
December 20, 2014, 11:37:26 PM
In the Parts, Service & Information part of this site, I am unable to update any info under "My Account." I am sending in an item for repair and wanted to update with my new phone number, but clicking on the "Update" icon doesn't do anything.

Just FYI...

Firefox 33.1.1 Mac OSX 10.9.5 if it matters.

On30 / Heisler Rough after Reset
February 02, 2014, 04:55:35 PM
Hey all,

My heisler was running smooth as silk. I installed the Soundtraxx module - everything was great. Ran well for a while. I wanted to start over with my sound settings so...

I did a factory reset (CV8 to 8 ) and now it runs terribly choppy, especially at low speed. Same choppiness after taking the sound module back out - very rough running - so I've eliminated the module itself as a culprit.

My thinking is there must be a CV in there somewhere that got messed up, but I have no idea which one. I wonder if the factory reset set something amiss.

Any help is appreciated before I send it in.

Thanks,
Scott

On30 / Forney Rear Truck Reassembly
October 18, 2013, 01:14:59 PM
Just looking for help.

I am trying to get the rear truck back on the forney. After a few hours, getting that upper plug beneath the speaker cutout to clasp the lower plug on the truck assembly is proving futile for me.

I understand how all the parts fit together. I just can't figure out how to GET them together.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Scott

On30 / Boxcars?
March 07, 2012, 04:58:57 PM
I may have missed the memo...  but the unlettered boxcars (non-ventilated) seem to be extinct.  They no longer show up on this website in the "Product Info" and Micro-Mark shows them as discontinued.  Nor can I find them available anywhere online.

Any word on a future run?  Seems to be an important piece of equipment to be unavailable for too long!

Thanks!

On30 / Hand Stamps for Custom Lettering
November 27, 2010, 10:20:07 AM
Hey all,

I've been on a quest to find an easy, cheap way to do some custom lettering in WHITE on my unlettered locos and freight cars.  Has anyone tried custom rubber hand stamps with white ink?  I've been searching around and I can't find any examples of anyone trying this.

I'm not sure how well the ink would stick to the model - I'm thinking a spray of dullcoat first to help adhesion.  And there are plenty of online sites that do custom stamps for pretty cheap.

I may have to experiment.  Anyone tried this?

On30 / 2-8-0 Wiring Quiz
May 14, 2010, 09:04:12 PM
I have the regular DCC 2-8-0 (i.e. non-Tsunami.)  The rear lamp stopped working and upon inspection, the black wire from the LED has come disconnected from somewhere.  The red lead is still soldered to the circuit board.  But where does the black lead get soldered to?

I can't find a wiring diagram either with my documentation or on this site.  Any help is appreciated!

On30 / Bachmann Locos and ME Turnouts
November 27, 2009, 10:14:36 PM
I just installed the first few Micro Engineering code 83 On30 turnouts on my layout and am having problems with my Bachmann locos running through them.  The shay and climax go through okay for the most part, although there is a very very slight "bump" as they go over the frogs - nothing I was too worried about.

But running the 2-8-0 through them, the first and fourth drivers do a distinctive "bump" over the frog - very noticeable.  So I figured a flangeway problem.  I checked everything with my NMRA gauge - wheels, flanges, track width, frog spacing, and the flangeways - all checks out just fine.  Took a dremel to the flangeways and took a considerable amount of metal away - the "bump" declined somewhat, but is still definitely there on the first and fourth drivers.

What am I missing???  For the amount of work it took to get one turnout somewhat reasonable (but not perfect), I am a bit frustrated.

Like I said, everything checks out with the NMRA gauge, so I'm not sure where to go next.  (Yeah, I know - hand lay... )

Thanks,

On30 / On30 Climax Headlamp Assembly
November 01, 2009, 01:14:12 PM
Gentlemen,

Had the front headlamp assembly of the Climax come loose, including the two LED leads.  I tried to simply slide the leads back in the two small holes, and attach the headlamp back with some glue.  But the headlamp still won't light.

I tested the lamp LED and the lamp will not light.  (Failure may be my fault - not sure.)  So I disassembled the headlamp and will replace the LED.

Question 1 - do the LED leads from the headlamp assembly simply sit in those two holes and make contact, or do they physically plug into something?  Hard to tell looking through the holes.

Question 2 - anyone have a good idea for a replacement LED that would fit properly in the lens assembly itself?

Thanks,
Scott
