Large / 10 wheeler question for TOC or JD
September 21, 2008, 12:04:28 PM
I've got a tech question for you,
Is there any difference in how the boiler assembly mounts to the older Big Haulers and how the Annie boiler mounts?
I've got one of the early run engines that I've put alot of effort into detailing and customizing. I've got a chance to get an Annie, and my thoughts were to unscrew the cab and boiler and switch it over to the Annie running gear.

Any help and comments would be most appreciated

Thanks

Large / 1:20.3 car comparisons
May 23, 2007, 09:28:21 PM
In this latest issue of Garden Railways, Kevin S. did an article on different guages of hopper cars, and a while back someone posted pictures here of the new Porter next to the old 1:22.5 Porter.
Does anyone have side by side photos of the new Fn3 flatcar next to the other flat's that Bachmann has?
Trying to see what they would look like being coupled to existing cars.
Thanks

Large / large scale open houses
May 03, 2007, 06:07:49 AM
Anyone in the MD, PA, DE, and NJ areas, it's time again for open house garden RR tours.
There are some very detailed RR's on this tour, and all hosts are very welcoming.

If someone is unsure if they want to take the plunge into large scale, you really need to see some of these. Check back often as the list continues to grow.

Large / East Coast large scale show
March 30, 2007, 10:06:05 PM
Wow,
If any one is thinking of going but not sure if it's worth their time, make the trip. There are some major bargins to be had, you just have to look. Trainworld is selling the large scale diesels, 2 for $125.00, and the Connie for $225.00
There are also several vendors with used cars for prices cheaper than on-line auctions.
Mr. Bach-man, nice seeing you again and saying "hi".

The running display side of the fairgrounds was great as well.

General Discussion / advice on a kitbash
March 26, 2007, 08:15:53 PM
Help!
I'm modeling in large scale, but figured that the answer to this could come from any scale.
I'm in the process of cutting down the length of a tender to make a shorter model. I've taken it apart, marked it with tape where I need to make the cuts, now the problem. I can cut it with either a band saw or a coping saw (I'll gladly like to hear how others cut down models), but my real question is what is the best thing I can use to fill in the seams once I have glued it back together?
Thank you all for any help and advice with this

Mr Bach Man,
I know this has been brought up before (several times), but has any more thought been put into making old loco's or parts available for purchase. I for one would love to purchase old loco's that were turned in for warranty issues, and use them for parts. I've been able to pick up some at different locations, but having a place we could look first would be great!
Bachmann could actually make money on something that is getting thrown in the dumpster out back. People could purchase a engine and tender, that doesn't run, and use it as a static model on their layout. If the fear of warranty fraud is an issue, have the folks that work on them to something drastic like cut a huge hole in the bottom to prove it can't come back for service work.
I know I may be just be wasting my time, but I'm in the middle of a project where extra parts would come in very handy.

Thanks for once again listening.
