HO / Bachman Shark
January 24, 2010, 06:35:47 PM
Mr Bachman,
I have four Bachman sharks that I got when they first came out. They all run except one. I had not run them until just recently and I could not get one to do anything. I reprogramed it on the program track and nothing. What do I do next? Is there anything I can check. I took the cover off and all the wiring seems to be ok and I saw no lose wires. Let me know what to check or reprogram or send it back in to be checked. Thank you. Larry
PS. Just got a PRR GP7 and it runs great. Do you have any other numbers?

What CV settings should you put on the Shark for it to run smooth. I have three and they do not run very smooth. Is it a decoder problem? Just wandering what you all think. Thanks Larry

HO / Lighting a rocker switch
December 17, 2009, 10:07:05 AM
Question for Jim Banner.
I have several 12v rocker switches that are lighted. Jim I want to use them for the tracks around the round house to indicate if that track is on or off. There are three prongs on the rocker switch and one is brass. How do I wire these. Remember you are helping someone who needs "Wiring for Dummy's". Thanks Jim you have helped me and many others. HO / Lighting buildings - Jim Banner
November 08, 2009, 09:26:04 PM
Jim Banner; I know you know the answer to this question if you get this question. I was given a whole lot of white Christmas tree lights and I experimented with them and they kept blowing out. I cut them off the string and put up to the AC in a transformer and it blew immediately; I also tried to use the DC on a transformer and the same result occures.  How can I use these inexpensive (free) lights to light buildings with out blowing out the bulbs? How can I use a dimmer to where they would not be so bright. Any help would be appreciated from anyone. Larry

I am building a coffee table layout. Everything I have done is in HO scale but in the coffee table I need to do it in N Scale. What is the most trouble free track you can use for this? Thanks for input because I am not familiar with N scale. Larry

I have building on my layout for about a year and half now and am always looking for advice and input from others. I have a web site at http://www.larrystrain.org built by my son-in-law. I would appreciate any input from fellow model railroaders. I am trying to model the Salamanca Branch of the PRR. Thanks for your input. Larry

February 20, 2008, 12:09:11 PM

HO / Turntable
February 12, 2008, 11:24:17 AM
I installed a walthers turntable that is installed and ready for indexing. I am running DCC throughout. In the instructions it says nothing about special wiring for DCC. Do you have to wire the TT in a special manner when using DCC? Thanks

HO / Bachman steam engine wiring
January 21, 2008, 06:51:51 PM
I have been having a lot of trouble with the wires on Bachman steam engines; the ones that attach the engine to the tender. They are so stiff that is sometimes lifts the tender of the tracks. I don't know if putting more weight in the tender or there might be some other secrets. There must be some good tips to fix the problem out there in Model railroad land. I always appreciate the tips from folks. Thanks. Larry (PS. I am working with a K4 right now and it is giving me a fit)

HO / Rotary switch
December 19, 2007, 09:47:44 PM
I am in the process of building Walthers roundhouse and would like to use a rotary switch to control the tracks power. I have DeMar Electronics cat. and there are several types of rotary switches. They have several and all have a AMP Current rating. I was wandering which one I should use because I am using DCC? I was told I need a double pole for this. I also need at least 17 positions and they are rated at 9 Amp current rating on contacts. I am not sure exactly all that means. I just need some of your input. Thanks. Merry Christmas. Larry
