You can now find in some magazines and retailers' websites a SoundTraxx ad for the Tsunami2 TSU-BH2, 8 function outputs decoder. The sound decoder is a replacement for the Sound Value factory installed decoder in Bachmann steam models:2-6-0, 2-8-0, 4-6-2, 4-8-4 Class J and GS4. The decoder does have Tsunami2 stream feature set. You will need to replace the factory installed speaker with a 2W capable speaker to use the TSU-BH2

https://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=255_433_1119&products_id=6943&zenid=509lmj1q9u4ot18rrh9oskq2p0

"The 4-6-0 is now available in a DCC- and Sound-Ready version that features an advanced nonproprietary plug-and-play circuit board to accommodate the control system of your choice, including conventional DC power, NMRA/NEM DCC, and/or RC operation.  Equipped with factory-installed speakers, it is ready for the addition of plug-and-play prototypical sound. (Plug-and-Play Sound Module available separately for sound-on-board performance.) It also features metal gears, a new tender, operating headlight, smoke, metal siderods, separate piping, and all metal handrails."

The Bach-man,
Verify the above product description is accurate (no misprints).

Also,
1) Identify the type and number of  factory-installed speakers.

2) Who makes the DCC decoder and Sound Module, SoundTraxx, TCS (Train Control Systems)?

3) Provide links to the documentation/manuals/instructions for the DCC decoder and Sound Module.

August 03, 2020, 04:15:11 PM
Bach-man,

HO 2-10-0 Russian Decapod locomotive DCC TCS WOWSound decoder equipped documentation now available,

  • WOWSound Comprehensive Programming Guide
  • WOWSound Quick Start Guide

Make available the following additional documentation,

  • 2-10-0 Russian Decapod  NMRA CV List (CV : description : default value)
  • WOWSound Steam 2-10-0 Russian Decapod Programming Guide

#9
Bach-man,

Misprint in the Russian Decapod Quick Start Guide?

Ref:  Click Here Quick Start Guide For Bachmann DCC Sound-Equipped 2-10-0 Decapod Featuring WOWSound DCC Sound Technology by TCS

The WOWSound decoder Quick Start Guide shows two methods to reset the CVs to their factory default settings. One method using CV8 and the second using Audio Assist - the HO ACS-64, Streamlined K4 and On30 Trench shows  CV8=2, however, the Russian Decapod  shows  CV8=8.

While the reset is CV=2 for a TCS  WOWSound decoder, I expect either CV=2 or CV=8 can be used to reset the TCS OEM decoder used by Bachmann as long as the decoder Preset #1 has not been changed by the user.

HO / TCS WOW Sound decoder Bachmann factory installed
November 12, 2019, 05:59:56 PM
You want to become a little familiar with the TCS WOW Sound decoder now being factory installed in some of Bachmann locomotives?

Click Here and see if you can find a misprint in the 1-24-2018 Programming Guide, which is in Bachmann's website.

an aside ----

I have already called the misprint to TCS attention regarding the WOW Sound electric Version 1 Programming Guide (dated 3-1-2018) in their website.

HO / ACS-64 NMRA CV List – CV description
September 09, 2019, 02:23:04 PM
ACS-64 NMRA CV List – CV description omitted

Click Here for the ACS-64 NMRA CV List

For list to be more useful:  Do not need Hex value of CV but do need its factory default decimal value and description.
Sure one can spend time looking up CV description in the NMRA Standards S-9.2.2 but many CVs are decoder manufacturer unique. (Example:  Configuration Variable 129-256, and some others) and require a description.
