Williams by Bachmann / Williams Brass Daylight GS 4-8-4
January 17, 2014, 02:00:44 PM
Has anyone ever removed the skirting and repainted it to look to like the post daylight steam era loco used for general service - commuting and/or freight use? I presume new under-the-skirt details (tanks, piping, etc.) would need to be added. Can it be done nicely?
Thanks!

I recently purchased the loco. It came from, of all places, a pawn shop, and it had front-end damage which I have repaired. Unfortunately the bell and yoke are missing. Does anyone know of a source for a replacement? Also, the marker lights at the front end are red as supplied by the manufacturer - they should be green. They are very small bulbs - about the size of pencil led. Any source for those?
Is anyone aware of a repair shop or vendor that has any spare parts for Williams brass locos? They were made in Korea by Samhongsa in the 1980's and into the 1990's.
Thank you you your help.

Williams by Bachmann / 80' Amtrak Superliners Phase IV
December 03, 2013, 11:45:45 AM
I just bought a set of 5 NOS. Some of the thin silver plastic strips used to vertically divide the wide windows are loose in the boxes - they somehow fell off. Can anyone recommend an adhesive to reapply them?
Also, does anyone know when these were manufactured?
Thanks to all!

Large / Connie 2-8-0 Headlight
October 28, 2012, 07:42:36 PM
Last year I purchased the loco on-line. When I tried to run it, the motor ran but not the loco. I returned it to Bachmann and a new gear-set was installed. When I received it I placed it on display on a shelf. When I placed it on the track today, it ran quite and smooth. The only problem is that the headlight does not work when going forward. When in reverse, the headlight and the back-up light on the tender light up. Any ideas for a fix? Is there a selection switch somewhere? Thank you.

Large / Decals for 4-4-0 Lake & Russia Iron
July 18, 2012, 02:12:04 PM
I am looking for decals to letter my new loco as per the North Pacific Coast 4-4-0 #12 Sonoma. I have located a source, and need some dimensions for the supplier. I will be away from my loco for a month so can't measure myself. What I need is the dimension of the area inside of the fancy scroll-work on the tender sides as well as the inside of the panel in the sides of the cab below the window. If anyone has the Eureka & Pallisades, those dimensions would also be the same. How tall is the lettering on the side of the E&P tender. Also, what size numbering (fraction of an inch) would fit on the number plate at the front of the smoke box.
Thank you for your help!

Large / K-27
June 01, 2012, 12:27:56 PM
I just received my new K-27 in the factory-sealed carton. I carfully unpacked it and set it on a display track - unpowered. When I pushed the loco a few inches manually, it rolled freely. None of my several other G scale Spectrum locos do. Please tell me this is normal!! Or is my gearbox faulty?
Thank you for a reply.

Large / Connie 2-8-0

I just received my new loco - purchased form a out of town company. I do not have a power source to test, so I placed it on  a short track for display. I was able to push it and the drive wheels turned. Do I have a problem?
Thanks.

Is the paint the same colors on both? I have the E&P and want to get the Lake & Russia and letter it for the North Pacific Coast #12 Sonoma, now on display at the CA Railroad Museum. The pics I see in the catalog are not real clear on the exact colors. Also, does anyone know if any vendor offers a "strap-iron" pilot that could replace
the Bachmann "wood" pilot? Several railroads running the 4-4-0 loco used them.
Thanks for your help.

Large / "North Pole" Train Set
July 21, 2011, 04:41:51 PM
I have an unusual train set. It consists of an Annie loco (#25) with factory applied holiday decorations around the top of the large "balloon" smoke stack the and on the cab roof. The valve gear is the simplified type. The colors are the same as on the Wonderland Flyer loco - red & green. Included is a white gondola with red trim and red caboose with "Merry Christmas" printed on the sides. I do not have the box. Does anyone know when this was produced and how many were made?
Thanks!

HO / Daylight GS4

Are there any plans to upgrade this loco to the Spectrum level and/or add sound? If no, who provides the best sound system?
Thank you.

Williams by Bachmann / Williams Sound Systems
October 02, 2009, 04:17:46 PM
I just ordered a Rio Grande PA ABA set with sound that includes revving motors and crew talk. I have not revceived it yet so am very curious since I have never seen this type of sound system mentioned in any of Williams advertising materials. I notice there is another ABA set (different road name) on eBay with the same sound system description. Did Williams do a limited run of upgraded sound diesels in the past or did someone install an after-market system?
I will report back on how mine sounds after I receive it next week.
Thanks.

When was this loco produced? Does it have sound? If not, could a sound board be added and be powered off the tender tether?
Thanks for your help.
