Large / Stirling Single made from Emily
December 22, 2014, 11:59:11 PM
I always liked the Stirling Single with it's 8' driver. When Bachmann brought out the Emily I got one to convert. I did a lot of research and got some books about the Stirling. I got some parts from a company in the UK to aid in my conversion. Through posts on some internet I met some like minded folk and it became a good collaboration and I made some new friends. One urged me to post on here in the hopes that Bachmann would make a Stirling for others to have.

Thomas & Friends / Emily's Scale?
December 21, 2012, 12:38:30 PM
Emily does not seem to be 1/32nd scale, it would have to be 18" long and it is 16". Any info on that?

Large / 3 truck shay problem
December 03, 2012, 09:05:56 PM
My friend has a 3 truck shay, that  says on the bos that it is  'DCC sound ready' and was 'DC Passed' , but he has no DCC stuff. We put it on the track, with regular DC power, it lights up and the sound comes on, but it won't move. No noise from the motors. Can this work on just DC power, or does he need to get DCC to make this work?
Found this reference on here about loose wires, could that be the problem?

He has no directions, so how do you get to the circuit board they are talking about? Anyplace to get a PDF of it?

thanks Jerry

Large / Enclosed Freight Body for Rail Truck
February 27, 2012, 12:29:48 PM
I posted this in the general discussion forum, thought it should be here instead.
For my Bachmann Rail Truck I wanted an enclosed body to hide the battery I use for power. Micro Mark used to have one, but no longer offer it. I got this laser cut kit from Mount Blue Model Co.  http://www.mountbluemodelco.com

The kit went together well. I made the roof removable so I could get to the battery easily. The roof is covered with Nashua metal duct tape that I embossed with nail head textures. You peel off the backing and stick it on. I used Krylon primer and flat black with Bragdon chalks to weather.

The kit comes with some plastic 'hinges', I 'rusted' them some and made the latch out of excess material.

The cab lettering I made on my computer on Papilio ink jet vinyl. The kit comes with pre-cut plastic windows that fit in well. There is some 'cargo' on this side that I printed out to make some boxes.

General Discussion / Enclosed Freight Body for Rail Truck

I got a enclosed freight body kit for my rail truck from Mount Blue Model Company. It was my first laser cut kit and it went together well.

I used Krylon primer and flat black. The roof is removable to get to the battery. I made a seat and put a passenger in it.
