Thomas & Friends / Troubleshooting Henry
June 24, 2020, 03:10:33 PM
Hello. My Henry model is having an issue where his front bogie will pop off the track. This was pretty much the first time I've run him as I now have large enough curves for my larger engines like Henry and Gordan.  I've tried adjusting the tightness of the screws securing the bogie to the chassis.  I've tried adding a bit of weight to the bogie with some modelling clay (I don't want to glue anything to it before I know it might help).  Gordan has the same chassis design as Henry and runs fine on my track.  The really baffling thing is that I put Gordan's front bogie on Henry and Henry's on Gordan and both models ran fine.  I would just leave them that way if there was a way to switch the wheels.  Anyway, the only ways I can get Henry to run consistently (without parts from Gordan) is to run him with his front bogie removed or run him backwards. I'm stumped at this point, so I though I'd see if anyone had any suggestions or had dealt with this problem themselves.

Thomas & Friends / Custom Models
May 01, 2018, 04:27:18 PM
I felt like showing some of the custom models that I've made recently.  Feel free to reply with your own customs or questions about mine.

First, I made S.C. Ruffey's friends from the first illustration of Toad Stands By

The teal truck behind S.C.Ruffey. Some of the Wiki writers are convinced that this is Rickety.

"Oliver's no use at all..."

I also made the non-express main line coaches from season 1.  These had an ERTL release as "Old Coaches."

I didn't realize until after buying a brake coach kit that the brake coach in the TV series looks like a composite coach that was painted like a brake coach (kind of like Emily's coaches).  Oh Well.

Thomas & Friends / Rolling Stock Characters
July 13, 2015, 02:05:33 PM
Hi I'm new here.  I'm an occasional reader of this forum, and I decided to make an account.  I've seen some discussion about the viability of RWS characters such as Bear being introduced into the HO line which are usually dismissed for the character's lack of relevancy.  But these discussions are usually limited to engines, so what about RWS rolling stock?  I think the fact that S.C.Ruffey was introduced early in the range's run is indicative of Bachmann's willingness to use "character status" to sell rolling stock because S.C.Ruffey was in a single story involving two characters who have not yet been released (Oliver and Toad).  Admittedly, S.C. Ruffey's model is only an alteration of the Troublesome Truck 1 & 2 and the colored wagons, but a similar principle could still be applied to other characters.  Isabel (who was rescued with Oliver and Toad in the RWS) comes to mind.  By making Isabel, Bachmann has the opportunity to release Dulcie, Mirabel, and Alice as slight variations on Isabel's model.  These four are identified with specific engines so owners of the Duck and Oliver models would be driven to acquire the coaches similarly how most people want Annie and Clarabel to "complete" Thomas and Henrietta to "complete" Toby.  While sales of the express coaches were low enough that Bachmann discontinued them despite them being strongly identified with Gordon, the express coaches were never "characters" and were never given names, potentially limiting their appeal.
On a similar note, if the narrow gauge range introduced the blue coaches, I know I would want four to represent Agnes, Ruth, Jemima, and Lucy, so it would be nice if Bachmann made them separate models from the start.
