Ordered a true blast sound board for a diesel to replace one that failed last week. Got the part, new one seems to be defective also (volume varies at random while sound is playing). Want my money back. Service doesn't answer the phone, no email address, no easy way to contact and speak to a live human being.

Anyone have a secret I don't know about to get what I want - my $$$ back before I call my CC Company?

FYI to the Bachmann folks, there are several, myself included, reporting their Williams Peter Witt trolley cars have zinc rot - literally - causing the trucks to crumble.

Maybe a recall is needed?

I've had a few Williams/WBB steamers over the years. My friend also has a few.

We've both had issues with nearly every steamer we've purchased (not all but a good chunk) overheating after very little operation. Sometimes the engine will slowly crawl to a stop. My friend has a B&O 2-8-4 with this problem. I also have a WBB J class with this problem. My J doesn't seem to have any performance problems (runs great really) but the motor gets SO hot you'll burn your hand if accidentally touching the flywheel sticking out of the cab. Plus, the shell gets blistering hot as well.

What is the issue and what is the fix? My dealer is friends with a former Williams repair tech from the Jerry Williams days. After several weeks with him, it is still overheating. Not sure what he did but it was binding and he fixed that issue. I've confirmed the engine is not binding nor any obvious issues. Anyone have a fix for the heat? New Motor?

Really impressed at the tooling on this engine and the sounds. Showed this to a friend of mine that didn't believe me when I said it was a Williams engine!

Immediately out of the box, I had the wiring harness and connectors wrapped around the flywheel. Glad it made a lot of noise before I ran it much! I also have the issue of it squeaking as it stopped, which I've brought up on the forum before. Oiled everything up, still there.  I've also seen this happen on older Williams engines both mine and a friends. Actually, I still hear a faint squeal/squeak as it goes down the track, which really concerns me. Anyone hear/see this? Any tips? This engine has been well lubricated per Bachmann instructions. 

Anyone else with these issues? Don't want to send it back - having had cab rides and even operated a real GP30, I've been wanting one for a while. Any tips on the squeaking?

Also have noticed small arcs from the non-traction tired wheels (lead and trailing axle if I recall correctly). Also have noticed this on a newer MTH engine. Any ideas on this? Cleaned the track with no change. Remember this is a new out of the box engine and the wheels are clean as well. I don't see this on any other engines. Could I have a bad ground somewhere? If I had a bad ground, wouldn't all engines be affected? I've seen this on various loops on my layout (not connected to each other) leading me to believe it is more engine related than track/wiring related.

Back here for the first time in a long time.

I had a less than desirable experience with WBB engines and the Bachmann staff in the early years of Williams by Bachmann. I'm seriously considering giving WBB another shot as I was always happy with their HO and N scale products (BTW, took a serious look at the Bachmann product lines in HO, N ON30 at the October York show - WOW! Seriously nice stuff!)

On my now sold WBB engines I remember them squealing just as they came to a stop. A friend of mine also has several WBB engines and has experienced the same thing. Of course, the we properly lubricate and care for our trains so lack of lubrication isn't an issue.

Anyone familiar with this and the cause? I'm looking to get back into WBB thanks to the "bullet-proof" nature of WBB products but dealing with issues like this squealing down the road makes me a bit nervous.
