General Discussion / Bachmann Decoders
November 16, 2017, 09:17:05 PM
How do I reset a Bachmann Decoder? I'm using a NCE Powercab if that makes a difference. I had a power outage and get nothing from either of the two locos now.

HO / Track inventory
March 26, 2017, 02:04:06 PM
Is there an inventory list for EZ track? I want to come up with a list of what I have and decide whether to add pieces to reconfigure a track plan without having to take up the current one. If I have them, no problem but I hate to be without a layout (even though tamp) while I wait for p[ieces to arrive.

HO / Wiring question on layout

I think the two dots are where I need to isolate the rails and use an auto-reverser connected to either side and the isolated area. Am I right.

HO / Wiring question
October 17, 2016, 11:58:08 AM
[ihttp://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm14/PanelDeland/e73f138c-b4fc-4b92-a089-696c3813e1f7.png][/i] I "think" I may have this figured out but I wanted to run it by those on here who really know. I'm thinking I need to address a "reverse Loop" situation where the black dots are. I'm assuming I can isolate at the dots and put an auto rverser from one of the tracks to that isolated section and it should run. Am I right?

HO / Peco Turn outs, EZ track
August 21, 2016, 07:09:20 PM
I've got a couple of Peco turn outs on the way. I have a lot of EZ. I'm thinking I'll do roadbed for the Peco out of foam to match the EZ and trim for the tabs to lay under. I'm wondering how to mate the actual Track short of soldering since I want to try a couple of different track plans before deciding. Anyone got any pics of how they did this or suggestions? I'm kind of disappointed in Bman  for not making better turn outs. They have been in the business a day or two and you would think they could build decent turn outs but I'm not seeing it. I guess I should clarify and say Rail are what I'm wondering about mating.

HO / Reveiws on locos
July 02, 2016, 10:13:42 PM
I'm looking to acquire a mid priced steam Loco. I like the looks of the 2-6-0 Mogul 51816 and the features. Does anyone have one or know of a review? I do have some grades but they are 2% leading to a short 3% and I'm thinking pulling power might be a bit weak but passable for a short consist.

HO / 6 Axle locos and curves
June 30, 2016, 07:25:04 PM
I'm starting a small 5 X 9 layout. I'll be using 22, 26 and 28 in curves #5 turnouts. I'm looking to expand my roster and wanted opinions on 6 axle diesels and also Steam that will run well on those radii. I'm thinking overall length will be the issue to run correctly and not look terrible. I'm also wondering if a 6 wheel steamer is the max or are there 8 -10 wheel ones I can run?

HO / Noise and low speed operation
April 12, 2016, 09:02:07 PM
I have 2 GP 40 Bachmanns. They both run about 9/28 well but are a bit noisy(lugging elect motor noise). At about 10-12/28 they quiten a lot and run well. They will run slower but eventually stall.
I also have a Walthers GP40 that will run all the way down to 1 and just barely crawl which I assume is normal. I'm just asking to be sure this is normal but since both Bachmanns do it and I know most claim they don't run slow as well as others, I'm assuming I'm right. My plan is to run the Bachmanns as a consist so slow speed op will be minimal so I don't see a problem for me with that.

I have a Bachmann GP 40 that came in a Rail Chief train set. It's Road Number is 3001. I found a 3002 Road Number from Bachmann that is dcc ready. I'm wondering if this loco is the same? If it is I would like to fit it with a decoder. I'm using a NCE powercab and also have a road Number 3519 that is DCC ready. Is there a preference on decoders when using the NCE or would it be more appropriate to use one matched to the loco?

General Discussion / Track guide
April 10, 2016, 03:56:58 PM
Does Bachmann print any kind of track guide? Basically I'm looking for a guide on what turn outs and curves work together, what manual/ground throws work with EZ tack, what all track parts are available, mostly general track facts so I have a better idea of what I can accomplish with EZ and what will require moving to flex or another track system.

General Discussion / New Car
March 13, 2016, 11:21:55 AM
My wife was in Dallas in Jan and bought a car. We live in NC. So next Sun. I fly to Dallas to pick it up and bring it home. Since I have a sister in Amarillo and one in OKC. I'll be stopping to visit for a couple of days in each city(in laws in McKinney). I'm just wondering if anyone has any shops in those places or close by to visit. Once I leave OKC, I'll be coming East across I 40 so any along that route I may be tempted to stop at also, you know for a road break. I did a search and found a club that has a layout in OKC at Crossroads mall, is it good to check out? I also found the "Whistle Stop" in OKC.

Thanks for any commentary and shops.

HO / trackplan
March 06, 2016, 10:24:14 PM
Give me the pros and cons please. I want continuos running, some switching and only have a 9X7 area with doors and shared aisles for space. This would actually set in the middle of a room that also has to double as a guest room ocassionally.

HO / Codes and wheels/couplers too
February 29, 2016, 07:07:17 PM
I'm new so be gentle. I'm looking to upgrade some cheap rolling stock. It will never be detailed to Model status but should make some decent runners. I'm looking for wheels and seeing code # on them. I'm assuming they correspond to the track code? From what I can ascertain, most freight cars under 100,000 will use 33 in wheels and passenger cars and larger weight rated frights will use 36 in.

So once I replace the wheels I'll want better couplers and some have horn hooks so I would like to put knuckle style on them. How do I determine which couplers to use. I found the Kadee conversion but know that on these lowend cars there may be differences. also, are coupler boxes required for converting from truck mounted to body mounted couplers?

General Discussion / Introduction
February 29, 2016, 11:29:24 AM
Hello, my name is Deland and I'm a hobby junkie. I have a lot of hobbies, many that crossover to the train hobby. I'm newish to trains not having had one for many years but have found a renewed interest in them due to needing something for winter. I do classic/modified cars/trucks, read, some woodworking(benchwork crossover),build an occasional car model (1:24) Collect die cast and collect tech manuals/textbooks. I'm seeing a lot of good info here. I currently have a 3/4 piece of ply on two sawhorses for a train table but am working on benchwork for a 7X9 space. I have doors and shared aisles to contend with along with the "zoning committee". I have a couple of trackplans that I like but haven't figured out how to post for critique. I get a download full error when I tried.
