HO / Help Needed in Wiring Simple HO Train Crossing !!

Wiring Simple HO Scale Train Crossing Lights
This is my first attempt to wire lights to my HO scale EZ track layout. I purchased some nice simple crossing lights to operate when the power is turn on to the spur line in my layout. The lights also included a resistor. The first thing I did was soldered the resistor to the black wire of the crossing lights then I cut two extension (20 gauge) wires. Soldered one end to the red wire and the other to the end of the resistor. Next, to test the light, I got a 9V battery and attached the black wire the negative end the battery and the red wire to the positive. Success, the crossing light started to blink red, exactly what I wanted.
But when I attached the light to my spur line rails and turned on the power switch the train moved but the crossing light did not go on. I also reversed the light wires with the same result.
All I want is the crossing lights to blink red when the power is switch on to the spur line or passing track to remind me that the switch is on and for effect.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Alez

General Discussion / AC accessories wired to DC
September 14, 2017, 12:46:01 PM
Newbie to wiring DC track.

Can you wire a AC light directly to a spur line if the power to the track is
only on when the track is in use. I'm trying to use the light as a reminder
to show if the tracks power is on or off.
If there is a better way please advise.

Thanks for your help

General Discussion / Ez track turnout - spur line
September 03, 2017, 09:51:16 PM
New to DC HO Track wiring.

I have two spur lines with metal frog turnouts, both are going to be used for parking locomotives in my layout.

How do I wire a #4 EZ track turnout with a metal frog to work as a spur lane to park trains? ???
Is the wiring different from a turnout with a plastic frog?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Newbie to wiring
Hello
I have to extend the the green wire from my ez track turnout but I am having trouble stripping the small gauge green switch wires.
That is the best way to strip these small gauge wires.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
