HO / DCC ?
September 19, 2019, 12:35:53 PM
Hello, my layout consist of two separate loops, an upper and lower. When I convert to DCC if I wire them both with a common busline will I be able to operate on both loops with the same control? I'm going with the NCE power cab. Each loop is around 40-45 feet of track. Thanks for any input.

HO / New layouy what code track?
July 21, 2019, 09:31:24 PM
Getting ready to start my new layout and I would like some input on track code. My current layout is all EZ track, Its in the man cave no plans to take it down, I have way to much time and money in it. The new one is going in a 20x12 barn that will have heat and AC. It will be dedicated to the train lay out, A train barn if you will. So what and why are the reasons to use the different codes of track? I will be laying all flex track.  Should be several hundred feet of track and this will be a DCC setup. I am going with the NCE power cab system. Thanks for any input.

HO / Where to start with DCC?
May 22, 2019, 10:58:42 AM
Hello, I want to get in to DCC. My lay out has two separate lines (EZ Track) all but two bridges. One on each line. I guess about 45 feet of track on each line. I have spent a good deal of work on the tracks and they run very well, smooth never any derails. Not all the joints are soldered but the ones that are hard to reach are and the bridges are. I added one power tap at the far side of the track, the trains don't lose speed any where around the layout. So where do I start with the DCC? I Don't what to buy the latest high dollar set I just want I good starter set that comes complete so I don't have to go look for some other little part that doesn't come with the starter set. Is there a way to run both of my lines with the same starter set? or am I asking to much? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks James.

HO / Passenger Train cars?
September 06, 2017, 11:00:50 AM
Hey guys, I'm wanting to make one of my lines into a passenger train. Will 11 1/2 inch cars make around 18 deg turns? I've found a set of Amtrak cars I want but I don't want to have to change my lay out to run them. Thanks for any input.

HO / Chrismas Train LED puzzle ?
September 01, 2017, 06:49:36 PM
Well I started work on our Christmas train, its going to be a figure 8. One loop around the tree and the other an HO Christmas seen. I took one of my old F9's and installed color change LED's in the head light and in the four holes in the sides. Also the caboose (its a spot light caboose) Its works great on the bench power supply all the lights change from red-blue-green. But when I put it on the track all the lights stay red, none of them will change. I can put the caboose on the track by its self and it will change colors but as soon as I put the loco on it goes to red and stays that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cant figure out for the life of me and I have tinkered with it for hours. I tried wiring it in parallel and in series same result.

HO / Wobble wobble?
August 01, 2017, 02:30:44 PM
I have a box car and a caboose that wobble when they get past a slow roll. The trucks don't have screws they are the snap in type so I can't tighten  them. What would cause the wobble and is there a fix? I was thinking maybe an out of round wheel? They don't derail they just wobble.

HO / Cutting track?
June 23, 2017, 03:36:43 PM
Anyone ever cut down Bachmann ez track? I need two four inch pieces. I know I can buy them but I thought it would be worth a shot, I have a few extras. Don't seem like it would be that hard to do. My thought was make the cuts with a dermal tool then use joiners and solder  them together. Any input is appreciated

HO / led install?
June 08, 2017, 06:43:19 PM
Well I wired up an led in one of my locos, pretty simple cut the old bulb out, install the resistor solder the led in and I'm done. works great very bright. Put the loco in reverse  and no light! HA! led's only work in one direction, wire them backwards and they don't work. I guess I dont need lights to back up any way LOL!

HO / Power taps?
June 03, 2017, 01:16:52 PM
One more ? while I'm at. At how many feet of track do you start adding power taps? With the slot cars I find under 50 feet you don't need them, But the train motors are doing maybe 100 fold the work. Thanks for the help you guys give I'm really enjoying the trains. Should have bought one along time ago.

HO / Faster in reverse?
June 03, 2017, 01:08:55 PM
Why would my locomotive's have more power in reverse? Now I'm very new to this hobby so my knowledge is very limited. I been into slot cars for years so I know the little motors work, I'm thinking maybe the brushes are worn in one direction and when you go in reverse they make better contact?

Thank you to every one that has replied to my ???? This seems to be the most adult  respectful forum I have been on. I 'm hooked on this new train hobby. My lay out is very different from the norm, Its a mix of HO train , an HO slot car road course and an HO slot car drag strip. I'll post some pics in the next week or so. ( my grand son loves it)  Thanks again, James
